Best evil build in Starfield

How do I make the best evil build in Starfield?

Starfield is a massive sci-fi RPG that lets you play as evil as you want. However, if you really want to lean into being evil, then you need to know what the best evil build is.

How to make the best evil build in Starfield

Aside from always picking the snarky, rude dialogue options, the best evil build in Starfield needs the best Background, Traits, skills, weapons, armor, and companion.

There are a few ways you can build the best evil build, namely a tank evil build, a stealth evil build, or a diplomatic evil build. With that said, you should experiment and branch out to create an evil build you’re proud of, here are my personal recommendations to make the best evil build in Starfield.

Best Background for evil build in Starfield

Starfield has a lot of excellent Backgrounds to choose from. The best evil build should have a Background that is shrouded in mystery or illegal actions.

I would recommend Space Scoundrel because that sets you up to be a rebel punk and gives you Pistol Certification, Piloting, and Persuasion. Another good one is Cyber Runner for a more stealthy evil build that gives you Stealth, Security, and Theft. Gangster can also be a great choice since it fits the brief and gets you Shotgun Certification, Boxing, and Theft.

Best Traits for evil build in Starfield

Like Backgrounds, Starfield has a good amount of Traits that can give your character a personal roleplaying touch.

I think the best evil build in Starfield needs to have Wanted because bounty hunters will always be after you. Terra Firma is the one I suggest because it gives you more oxygen and health when you’re on land which is 90% of Starfield combat.

For your last Trait, you can pick Empath and Extrovert if you want to have a companion, Introvert if you want to be evil alone, Kid Stuff if you want to disappoint your parents. Even though Serpent’s Embrace fits for an evil build, I’ll never recommend that Trait because I think it’s the worst Trait in the game.

Best skills for evil build in Starfield

The best skills for the best evil build depends on what you want to build. I think every evil build needs Stealth, Theft, Security, Deception, Intimidation, and Persuasion. By and large, I think you can avoid the Science and Tech skill trees and focus on Physical, Social, and Combat.

If you want to make a brawler or swordsman, you primarily need Boxing and Martial Arts. If you want to make a stealthy sniper, you primarily need Rifle Certification and Sharpshooting. Check the list of skills out for yourself to make the best evil build exactly how you’d want it, but at least grab the necessary evil build skills.

Best weapons and armor for evil build in Starfield

Since the best evil build is more open-ended, you can use any weapons and armor you want. The best weapons and armor are in a similar position as the skills — go with how you’re specifically making your evil build.

If you’re building a tanky shotgun Gangster, use heavy armor with high stats and the best shotguns you can find. If you’re building a sneaky rogue, use lighter armor and the best melee weapons you can get your hands on. There’s no right or wrong here.

Best companions for evil build in Starfield

While Andreja and Sam Coe are more willing to let evil actions slide if they are justified, every main companion in Starfield is a stickler for the rules.

The best companion you can have for the best evil build is no companion at all. However, if you insist on having a companion, take Vasco with you because he doesn’t like or dislike anything. If you don’t want to take a main character, find the best companion you can in a bar in any major city (New Atlantis, Akila City, Cydonia, Neon). They’ll never get upset and leave you for being evil.

And that is how to make the best evil build in Starfield. If you’re looking for more of the best builds, I recommend you check out our five best builds in Starfield guide.
