Skills in Witchfire are just as important as weapons, if not more so. Your weapons and skills together complete any build you’re going for. When things are going your way in the roguelike shooter, facing enemies like The Warden may be much more feasible. Since everything in Witchfire is against you and losing your step is detrimental, skills help act as a buffer in case things go south. Some skills are more important than others regardless of how you’re playing, and in turn, can help you last longer out on the battlefield. The following are the best early skills you can get in Witchfire. While they’re good for starting, building on them can do wonders since not much in the game will aid you.
Witchfire: Best early skills
The skills below are probably the best ways to get going in Witchfire. They help you understand the mechanics of the shooter so things may get easier each run you attempt.
RejuvenationÂ
As a Preyer, you have your health, but you also have stamina which goes down every time you jump, slide, and dodge. It’s always going to be going up and down. If it goes all the way down and you keep on exerting yourself, you get weakened — which makes you easier to hit. Then you must wait for what feels like a long time to get it all back. And if you have more than one stamina bar, that’s more time spent waiting. Rejuvenation can help you quite a bit since it brings stamina back around 20 percent faster. When going up against a boss who uses a movement as an attack like The Shieldbreaker, this is important. With less time to wait for stamina to come back, you have a fighting chance to counter anything he throws at you.
Double Light Spell
I like using the spells quite a bit. The starting Light Spell attack gives you breathing room and helps you take out more enemies without them retaliating. Having a second Light Spell charge makes everything better. When you have hordes of enemies and you’re low on ammo, that extra security via Light Spell helps keep the pressure low. While the Light Skill comes back faster than its heavier counterpart, having that extra charge is crucial in Witchfire.Â
Large MagazineÂ
Having to reload often is a death sentence in Witchfire. It also doesn’t help that every time you slide and jump, reloading gets interrupted. A larger magazine size of about 40 percent cuts that in half and allows you to output fire at a better rate. Since the game will have you in a one vs. one million situation quite often, you’ll need to reload frequently to keep up. This skill, much like Rejuvenation, helps you manage all that pressure better.
Reload DashÂ
If you have Rejuvenation and this skill going simultaneously, running, dodging, and being able to counter becomes easier. Every time you Reload Dash and reload, you’ll deal 30 percent more damage for one second. Arming yourself with this might make harder bosses easier to take down. Plus, clearing an area quickly in Witchfire is one of the core tenets of the game. Additionally, that damage boost comes in clutch when things come down to the wire. In a game like Witchfire, you’ll need it.Â
Blood Transfer
Survivability is fundamental in Witchfire. The longer you last out in the wild, the more Witchfire you get to level up. To make this easier, get the Blood Transfer skill, which increases the rate of a health potion to drop from fallen enemies at 50 percent more. In a game like Witchfire, health is crucial. Because when you die — you die. This means you have to restart. If you get the Health Boost skill in the same run, you become almost invincible since it raises your overall health. In the late game of Witchfire, having more health and being able to get health back makes taking hits much more manageable.
Witchfire is in early access now via Epic Games.
