Best Creative Maps and Custom Games in Fortnite

If you’re new to Fortnite Creative Maps, you may be surprised to learn how varied games can be. I avoided Creative Maps for the longest time, but now, I spend more time on those than on regular Battle Royale. Here are my picks for the best custom content in Fortnite:

Home Alone – Prop Hunt

There are plenty of great Prop Hunt games in Fortnite, and Home Alone is one of my favorites. If you’ve not played before, you’re randomly assigned teams and are either a Prop or a Hunter.

Prop players can transform into any item on the map, and they must hide for as long as possible. The Hunters must try to find and shoot every Prop player before time runs out. If a Prop player is found, they join the Hunter team for the rest of the round.

The premise is simple, and Home Alone – Prop Hunt is heavily in favor of the Props, making it a great introduction to the mode. I hid as a giant Christmas Tree on this map for at least three minutes and almost died laughing. If that’s not worth a spot on the list, I don’t know what is!

OnlyUp Fortnite!

Only Up was a gaming phenomenon before it was unceremoniously removed from Steam. If you’ve not played before, it’s a giant obstacle course that spirals miles into the sky. If you fall, you lose progress, making it tense the entire way. The best way to experience the exorbitant highs and crushing lows of Only Up is in Fortnite.

There are a few Creative Maps like this, but this is my favorite. The theming matches different Seasons from the Battle Royale mode. As the environment is ever-changing, it’s rewarding to reach new Seasons if you don’t mind taking some soul-crushing tumbles on the way.

Octo Game 2.0

The original Octo Game is the mode that got me into Fortnite Custom games. Octo Game 2.0 is a series of mini-games that resemble those in the popular Squid Game series. There are plenty of nods to the show, and the tasks are so fun you’ll enjoy playing even if you’ve not watched it.

Your patience, balance, and mashing skills will be tested but the environments and tasks are so well made, you’ll forget you’re even playing Fortnite. Octo Game has been active for months at the time of writing and still retains a healthy player count, which speaks to its quality.

Monsters Escape Room

I enjoy Fortnite Escape Rooms but feel many are too obtuse for their own good. Monsters Escape Room avoids the usual pitfalls of similar games and is full of simple and rewarding puzzles.

This is certainly one of the easier Escape Room Creative Maps, but I’d take this over ones where the solution is hidden behind a wall collision turned off.

Players expecting puzzles on the level of Lorelie and the Laser Eyes will be disappointed, but this is an Escape Room players of all skill levels can enjoy.

Chained Together

Chained Together is Fortnite’s answer to the popular game on Steam with the same name. If you’ve not played before, imagine Only Up, but with a team that’s chained together. It’s as ridiculous as it sounds, and I’m all for it.

Some jumps are a little janky in Chained Together, but it’s no different from the standalone game. If you’ve got a couple of relaxed buddies to play with, you’ll have plenty of laughs with this Custom game.

Grandma [Horror]

I’m a sucker for horror games, and there’s a ridiculous amount of them on Fortnite. Grandma [Horror] is one of my favorites. It’s creepy, doesn’t rely on jump scares, and has some rather disturbing imagery.

I don’t want to spoil anything for you here, but this is a fantastic Custom Map to enjoy with friends. Grandma [Horror] does have a slow start, but it’s worth seeing through to the end.

Fortkea Prop Hunt

I already talked about Prop Hunt with my Home Alone – Prop Hunt recommendation. Fortkea Prop Hunt is easily my favorite Custom Map of the genre, with features that take it to the next level. Ikea is the perfect setting for a Prop Hunt map, and the Prop players can play sounds if they are bold enough.

I’m immature enough to enjoy toilet humor, and it’s hilarious when you’re playing as a Hunter and a banana on the wall farts in your ear! Props also have to escape the map to win which adds a new dynamic to the traditional Prop Hunt.

Realistic FPS Gun Game [Body Cam]

The Bodycam video game made headlines for its hyper-realistic graphics and unrivaled immersion. Realistic FPS Gun Game in Fortnite employs the same visual tricks, and the results are pretty impressive.

This Custom Map is a basic first-person shooter at its core, but the presentation is what elevates it to the next level. The mode does get boring after a while, but it’s a treat to see something so ambitious replicated in Fortnite.

Apocalypse Tycoon

  • Island Code: 3327-2354-3041

Apocalypse Tycoon is an admirable attempt at a Survival Horror game with base building. You can harvest trees for materials for defenses, and Zombie slaying is simple and satisfying. Honestly, even if the genre doesn’t resonate with you, Apocalypse Tycoon is still worth trying.

It’s easy to lose hours in Apocalypse Tycoon, and it’s no wonder the Creative Map has retained an enormous player base for months.

Car Crash Battle

Chapter 5 Season 3 threw vehicle combat into the meta in a big way. If you enjoy putting your driving skills to the test, Car Crash Battle is a great Creative Map to do it on.

If you can imagine Fortnite meets Destruction Derby, you have Car Crash Battle. There are plenty of vehicles to choose from, and there are some incredible drivers to battle. Even if you’re terrible at driving, this Creative Map is a great way to get some practice for Battle Royale and Zero Build modes.

Best AFK XP maps in Fortnite

XP maps in Fortnite get squashed quickly as it’s something Epic Games doesn’t want players doing. Most AFK XP Maps are a scam and serve to waste your time above all else. Plus, there can be bans if you’re caught in the crossfire.

Any legitimate AFK XP maps are deleted before they gain any traction. That said, if we discover any working maps to earn XP, we will update this guide.

I still find that LEGO Fortnite is the best place to earn easy XP. Many “AFK” methods have been fixed, but a well-placed bouncer may still work. Failing that, if you go AFK, you can stand idle for about 15 minutes before you’re kicked.

If you return before then to prod your controller, you can still earn XP, even if it’s a little inconvenient.
