While most classes in Baldur’s Gate 3 should wear proper Armor, there’s always the option of wearing Clothing for protection. No, I’m not talking about your camp clothes you wear underneath your Armor. Clothing can be worn by any class, and while it provides very minimal AC benefits, they can grant other amazing buffs. If you’re looking to find the best clothing in Baldur’s Gate 3, here’s a ranked list of 10 great options.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Clothing, ranked
Keep in mind that all Clothing gives you a base AC of 10, but some will grant additional AC bonuses. Most of the time, your spellcasters, Monks, or Barbarians will benefit most from Clothing. Otherwise, here are 10 of the best Clothing in Baldur’s Gate 3, ranked from great to best.
10. Cloth of Authority
This ornate and gaudy piece of Rare Clothing has a few useful tricks. You probably recognize the Cloth of Authority from Gortash’s body, as it’s the only Armor he wears. While it includes a +1 AC bonus, there are some special abilities you get when wearing it.
- Dauntless: You cannot be Frightened, and cannot be afflicted with other emotion-altering conditions.
- Authority: You gain Advantage on Intimidation and Insight checks.
There are many spells that can inflict conditions such as Frightened, but you’d be easily protected wearing this. You also can’t go wrong with gaining skill check Advantages. As you may have guessed, you can only get the Cloth of Authority by looting it off of Gortash.
9. The Mighty Cloth
Fit for any Barbarian, The Mighty Cloth is Rare Clothing with wicked looking bone designs on the ribcage. Here are the two buffs you gain while wearing this Clothing:
- Bull’s Strength: You gain Bull’s Strength spell (grants Advantage on Strength checks and Weight Limit doubles), and increase your Strength by two, to a maximum of 20.
- Unwavering Bull: You cannot be pushed against your will, and you have Advantage on Saving Throws against being Restrained.
Since Barbarians need to be unarmored for their Rage ability, putting Karlach in this piece of Clothing is perfect. You can purchase The Mighty Cloth from Quartermaster Talli at the Last Light Inn.
8. Bonespike Garb
While there’s not much protection visually on the Bonespike Garb, it’s dotted with sharp bone studs. It’s Very Rare Clothing with two features:
- Slabjaw Determination: You gain 15 temporary HP whenever you Rage.
- Exoskeletal Endurance: Reduce all incoming damage by two. When wearer is struck with melee attack, attacker takes three Piercing damage.
The Bonespike Garb bites back against attackers, and gives Barbarians who Rage a nice HP bonus. It’s perfect for Karlach. You can buy the Bonespike Garb from Exxvikyap at Rivington General in Rivington.
7. Viconia’s Priestess Robe
This beautiful black and gold Rare gown has an AC bonus of +1. While wearing Viconia’s Priestess Robe, you gain two useful bonuses:
- Shar’s Umbrae: When Obscured, wearer has Advantage on Stealth checks.
- Sharran Veil: Shield of Faith spell also grants you +2 to all Saving Throws.
If you have a party member like Shadowheart who casts Shield of Faith often, this would work perfectly with them. You can loot Viconia’s Priestess Robe off of Viconia DeVir herself. She’s the Shar Mother Superior in the House of Grief, which is in the Lower City.
6. Potent Robe
This Very Rare Clothing enhances your Charisma-based abilities, which may be useful for a Warlock like Wyll. It has a +1 AC buff, alongside these two bonuses:
- Gregarious Caster: Your cantrips deal additional damage equal to your Charisma modifier.
- Well-Liked and Well-Fortified: At the start of your turn, the rob grants you temporary HP equal to your Charisma modifier.
Make sure to give this to your character who has a high Charisma modifier, or else it’s essentially useless. The Potent Robe is actually a reward from Alfira for completing the Rescue the Tieflings quest during Act 2.

5. Infernal Robe
The Infernal Robe is perfect for your character who plays with fire all-too often. It’s Very Rare Clothing with a bonus +1 AC. Here are the special features given to the wearer:
- Fire Shield (Warm) spell: Only take half of all Cold damage, and you deal 2d8 Fire damage to anyone who hits you with a melee attack.
- Grants Resistance to Fire damage.
Not only do you get Fire Resistance, but the Fire Shield spell can fire back, pun intended, a decent amount of Fire damage at your attackers. You can get The Infernal Robe if you decide to recruit Wyll, but kill Karlach. Mizora rewards Wyll with this Clothing.
4. Vest of Soul Rejuvenation
Any Monk players out there? You should take a look at the Vest of Soul Rejuvenation, a Very Rare Clothing item with a +2 AC bonus. These features listed are why you should give it to your Monk:
- Defier’s Rejuvenation: When the wearer succeeds on a Saving Throw against a Spell, they regain 1d4 HP.
- Greater Kushigo Counter: Wearer can use a Reaction to make an Unarmed Strike against any attacker that misses.
Since Monks mainly only make unarmed attacks, this class could use the Vest of Soul Rejuvenation. There are a few different ways to acquire this Clothing. If Rolan is dead, Lorroakan’s Projection in Sorcerous Sundries is selling it. If Rolan and Lorroakan are alive, Rolan is selling it at the same place. But if Rolan is alive and Lorroakan is dead, you can pickpocket it from Rolan in Ramazith’s Tower.
3. Wavemother’s Robe
This blue-scaled Very Rare Clothing is not only gorgeous, but it grants the wearer some pretty cool abilities. The Wavemother’s Robe has an AC +1 bonus, but it has two features and one spell:
- Temperature Adjustment: Gain Resistance to Fire and Cold damage.
- Watery Rejuvenation: If wearer is standing on a water surface at the start of their turn, they heal 1d4 HP.
- Create or Destroy Water spell: Call forth rain or destroy a water-based surface.
The cool this about the Wavemother’s Robe is that you can cast the spell to create water beneath you during combat, and you’ll slowly regain HP. It’s also nice to have Resistance to two elements. You’ll gain the Wavemother’s Robe as a reward for completing the quest ‘Avenge the Drowned‘ in the Lower City.
2. Robe of the Weave
Made for any spellcaster, the Robe of the Weave is Very Rare Clothing. It has an AC bonus of +2. You’ll also gain these two bonuses:
- Arcane Enchantment: Gain +1 bonus to Spell Save DC and spell attack rolls.
- Weave Eater: Whenever wearer succeeds a Saving Throw against a spell, they regain 1d6 HP.
Someone like Gale may benefit most from the Robe of the Weave (not just because it has Weave in the name). You can loot this Clothing inside the Glove of Invulnerability, with is in Ramazith’s Tower, accessed through Sorcerous Sundries.
Note: You’ll also find the Markoheshkir Legendary Staff in the same place as the Robe of the Weave.
1. Moon Devotion Robe
Finally, at the number one spot is Moon Devotion Robe. This exquisite Very Rare Clothing may just have an AC of 10, but it gives you the most features out of any Clothing in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Selûne’s Protection: When wearer has Mage Armor, each successful Saving Throw causes the source of the Saving Throw to take 1d4 Radiant damage.
- Grants Advantage on Constitution Saving Throws.
- Grants +1 bonus to all Saving Throws.
- Lunar Bulwark spell: AC increases to 13 + DEX modifier.
- Produce Flame spell: Summons a flame in your hands that deals light and can inflict 1d8 Fire damage if thrown.
Gaining two spells, two Saving Throw buffs, and an excellent bonus to Mage Armor, at least one of your party members should have the Moon Devotion Robe. You can loot this robe off of Isobel at the Last Light Inn.
