While there are over 130 characters in Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, some are simply just better than others, so we’ll be presenting a best characters tier list.
When you’re aiming to grow a character’s Proficiency, or picking characters for cool Awakening moves, you should know the best of the best. Let’s get right into it.
Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections: Best characters, tier list
S-Tier
- Naruto (Sage of the Six Paths)
- Sasuke (Boruto)
- Madara (Six Paths)
- Kaguya
- Minato (Reanimation)
- Hashirama Senju (Reanimation)
- Obito (Ten-Tails Jinchuriki)
Naruto in his Sage of the Six Paths Mode is one of his strongest forms. This kit is highly powerful, and will allow you to throw two powerful Ninjutsus, an explosive Secret Technique, and a transformative Awakening. Sasuke from the Boruto era is in a similar boat, he’s Sasuke at his most powerful, with a strong Chidori and Fire Ball Jutsus. His Awakening also has him use his incredible Susano transformation.
Alongside them is Madara in his Six Paths Mode, who is probably even more powerful than the previous two characters. With moves like Instantaneous Pull, Black Pull, and one of the best Awakenings, this version of Madara is top-tier. We also have Kaguya, who has an enticing arsenal, especially during her Awakening. She’s very fun to play with, but not fun to be up against.
Minato in Reanimation is one of the quickest characters in the game, as he’s known as the Yellow Flash. He has incredible mobility, and some very strong Ninjutsus. Hashirama Senju in Reanimation form could go up against Madara, as he’s the powerful First Hokage. In his Reanimation form, his kit is entirely upgraded and he’s a great character to have on your team.
Lastly, Obito in his Ten Tails Jinchuriki form is a formidable foe. This is Obito in his most dominant form, and most of his moves can deal an incredible amount of damage, especially with his Divine Sword.

A-Tier
- Minato
- Madara (Reanimation)
- Deidara
- Gaara
- Naruto (Baryon Mode)
- Mei Terumi
- Kinshiki
Since Minato is still such a great character to have, I’m putting his usual form in A-Tier. It may not be as upgraded as his Reanimation form, but any version of Minato is amazing. Speaking of forms, if you don’t want Six Paths Madara, try out his Reanimation form. It’s still an impressive kit with some of the most damaging moves.
I also really enjoyed playing with Deidara, as he has a lot of cool Ninjutsus that may surprise you. I always struggled to survive against him. There’s also Gaara, who has an amazing Awakening into his Jinchuriki. None of the other versions of him have as good of an arsenal as plain old Gaara does.
Another great Naruto to use is Naruto in Baryon Mode, which is during the Boruto era. Although I didn’t find his Awakening to be as impressive, older Naruto is still very powerful. I also added Mei Terumi to this list, as her arsenal was incredibly fun and damaging to play with. You may not think to pick the Mizukage, but don’t undermine her abilities.
Finally, Kinshiki is another amazing character. He’s pretty tanky, and slow at first, but it works in his favor with his wide-spread attacks and hard hits.
B-Tier
- Sakura
- Orochimaru
- Naruto (Kurama Link Mode)
- Jiraya
- Kabuto (Sage Mode)
- Pain
- Neji
We’ll end this tier list with B-Tier, since these are still great characters to pick for your team. Sakura in the Boruto era is Sakura at her prime. She has some pretty damaging Ninjutsus, and is even more powerful during her Awakening. Orochimaru is also a terrifying opponent, with his Blade Dance Ninjutsu being tough to avoid.
One other Naruto that you should consider playing is Naruto in Kurama Link Mode. He still has some amazing Tailed Beast Bombs in his arsenal, alongside a deadly Secret Technique. I also like playing Jiraya with his damaging Rasengan and upgraded Awakening.
You should also consider using Kabuto in his Sage Mode, which is his deadliest form. Pain, while a little underwhelming compared to how he is in the source material, is pretty strong compared to other characters. His attacks are in melee range with Almighty Push and Universal Pull. Finally, Neji is an underrated pick. His Ninjutsus may seem simple at first, but he can actually dish out some damaging Palm moves.
