Best Censers in Dragon’s Dogma 2, ranked

Become the master of illusions.

Trickster is a unique class in Dragon’s Dogma 2, dealing almost zero damage to enemies and instead focusing on illusions and controlling the battlefield. If you’re going to be a useful Trickster, you must ensure you have one of the best Censers in the game.

Censer is a weapon class exclusive to the Trickster vocation in DD2, and it’s known to be 6 in the game. Here is our ranking of all the Censers in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Best Censers, ranked

This guide ranks all Censers based on their Magick and Strength stats and special skills. In the following sections, you will also discover how to get each Censer.

6. Bewitching Balm

Bewitching Balm is one of the first available Censers for the Trickster after unlocking the vocation in the Battahl region. It is a decent choice for the midgame region, but it is not strong enough to pull you into the endgame of Agame Volcanic Island.

Players can purchase Bewitching Balm from Awaran’s Arms in Bakbattahl for 12250 gold. However, be very sure you want to spend that much, as the sell price is only 4090 gold.

  • Strength: 75
  • Magick: 180
  • Slash: 0
  • Strike: 100
  • Knockdown Power: 50
  • Element: None
  • Debilitation: None

5. Redolent Whisper

Redolent Whisper is a slight upgrade to Bewitching Balm, with a jump in both the Magick and Strength stats. This means that you can more easily control enemies, illusions last longer, and your ability to control the battlefield is stronger.

You should save up to purchase this from Awaran’s Arms in Bakbattahl instead of Bewitching Balm simply because it’s better all around. It costs 26500 gold. You can also find Redolent Whisper behind a breakable wall in the Tomb of Te’Glarr in the Battahl region.

  • Strength: 100
  • Magick: 240
  • Slash: 0
  • Strike: 100
  • Knockdown Power: 50
  • Element: None
  • Debilitation: None

4. Resonant Hymn

When I had the Resonant Hymn equipped, I noticed a significant difference in how well my Trickster controlled the enemies on the battlefield. I was confused about why this Censer was so powerful until I read the in-game description. It reads, “ensures a higher density of smoke is emitted, to better beguile one’s foes.” In other words, Resonant Hymn releases more smoke for a larger area of effect.

This is where we begin to get into Censers that are suited for the endgame, and Resonant Hymn is one of them. You can purchase one for yourself at the Volcanic Island Armory for 39000 gold.

  • Strength: 125
  • Magick: 270
  • Slash: 0
  • Strike: 100
  • Knockdown Power: 50
  • Element: None
  • Debilitation: None

3. Achromic Reverie

Achromic Reverie is one of the best Censors in Dragon’s Dogma 2 due to its ability to get smoke out quicker and more efficiently. This leads to faster enemy control, quicker illusion creation, etc. The stats are no joke either: 150 in Strength and 300 in Magick.

The Achromic Reverie Censer can only be obtained in the endgame of DD2. Once you reach the true ending (endgame), you can purchase Achromic Reverie from Rodricks, Grisha’s, Celeste’s, and Brokkr’s Smithy shops.

  • Strength: 150
  • Magick: 300
  • Slash: 0
  • Strike: 100
  • Knockdown Power: 50
  • Element: None
  • Debilitation: None

2. Whimsical Daydream

You are probably surprised to see Whimiscal Daydream, a Censer with lower Magick stats than Achromic Reverie, as number two. I believe this to be one of the best options in the game, considering it has a unique skill that rewards you with gold with every strike. That’s right, you get rewarded with gold while using it.

Having more gold means you can purchase more armor, consumables, Ferrystones, you name it. You’ll always have gold to spend if you have the Whimsical Daydream equipped. Be prepared. You need to complete the Sphinx’s riddles to get this fantastic Censer.

  • Strength: 175
  • Magick: 290
  • Slash: 0
  • Strike: 100
  • Knockdown Power: 50
  • Element: None
  • Debilitation: None

1. Dragonswail litany

Dragonswail Litany is the best Censor in the game in terms of sheer strength and magick. It also has the best accuracy for directing smoke. If you want to reach the Trickster’s maximum potential and can command the battlefield and easily confuse the enemies, you’ll want to pick up the Dragonswail Litany Censer; it’s that simple.

The Dragonswail Litany can be purchased from Bay Wayside Shrine for 110 Wyrmslife Crystals. These materials are difficult to find, as they can only be obtained from draconic species such as Drakes and Lesser Dragons.

  • Strength: 200
  • Magick: 325
  • Slash: 0
  • Strike: 100
  • Knockdown Power: 50
  • Element: None
  • Debilitation: None

Now that you understand which Censors to search for and acquire, you will become the best Trickster possible in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you decide to switch vocations, I recommend the Magick Archer, which is hands down my favorite. To get started, check out our ranking of the best Magickal Bows.
