Best Egyptian build order in Age of Mythology Retold
The best Egyptian build guide can be pulled off with any of the main Gods. This build order is incredibly quick and will have you advancing with two Anubites to boot in around four minutes if done efficiently. Having two Anubites to harass your opponent can be invaluable.
Here is the best build order for the Egyptians in Age of Mythology: Retold:
- Assign three villagers to hunt alongside your hero.
- Assign your next villager to build a Monument and a House.
- Assign the next two villagers to build a Gold Mine and harvest Gold.
- Once the Monument and House are built, assign them to mining Gold.
- Keep making villagers until you have nine hunting / gathering food.
- The moment you can, build a Temple.
- When the Temple is built, make more villagers and assign almost all hunting villagers to mining Gold.
- Advance as soon as you can to the next age and pick Anubis.
- The moment you’re done advancing, queue another Anubite immediately.
- You can use both Anubites to harass your opponent and deny their second Town Center, among other sabotage strategies.
- Meanwhile, make your second Town Center as soon as possible.
With this build order, you’re going to have a second Town Center and two Anubites in no time. The rest is then up to personal strategies which will be made much more potent by this blitzkrieg opening.
From here, make sure to build the next Monuments as soon as you can whilst your villagers harvest Gold and Food in the same ratio as before. Whilst it’s effective, make sure to keep up the Anubite pressure whilst focusing on building your preferred military strategy.
When your opponents start to counter your Anubites, you can pull back or refocus your sabotage efforts. Thanks to the speed of getting them up and running, you’ll be able to keep thwarting your opponents whilst building up an army and defenses.
Best Greek build order in Age of Mythology Retold
This Greek build order for Age of Mythology: Retold allows you to collect the most optimal amount of resources as quickly as you can to advance and grab another Town Center as fast as possible. Also, the flexibility provided here allows you to counter your opponent hard once you’ve established your second Town Center.
Here is the best build order for the Greeks in Age of Mythology: Retold:
- Assign one villager to collect Wood.
- Assign three villagers to hunt Food.
- Assign the next two villagers to mining Gold.
- Make more villagers until you have nine hunting.
- Build the Temple as soon as you can.
- Then, build a House.
- Make more villagers until you have five collecting Gold.
- The moment you can, advance to the next age and pick a God of your choice.
- Reassign your villagers until you have seven harvesting Wood and six mining Gold.
- Take the second Town Center the moment you can.
Following these steps allows you to gain the Town Center incredibly quickly, preventing your opponent from denying it.
The moment you have your second Town Center, you can go off in any direction you see fit. Scouting your opponent and seeing what they have going on makes countering their efforts easier. No matter what, I’d suggest making your heroes and putting pressure on them.
Whether you want to deny and sabotage your opponent, build a mighty army, or build up some defenses, you’ll be able to do it pretty quickly thanks to this opening. Seeing what your opponent has planned will help you with your plan.
Best Norse build order in Age of Mythology Retold
The best build order for the Norse can only be achieved with Odin. It’s fun, powerful, and will devastate your opponents. This is a trickier and more comprehensive build order, making it more of a surprise strategy than anything, but I simply can’t not include it.
A shout-out to KeeN Gaming is necessary for this curated build. It’s brilliant.
- Assign three villagers to hunting and cast Great Hunt.
- Assign a Dwarf and a villager to mining Gold.
- Assign one villager to chopping Wood.
- Build a House.
- Assign your next couple of villagers to hunting.
- Make a few more Dwarves and assign them to mining Gold, reassigning the villager to Wood chopping.
- Build the Temple between you and your opponents’ base, but off to the edge of the map.
- Reassign one Wood gathering villagers to hunting.
- From this point onward, make more villagers and assign them to the resources you need the most as opponent activity can force you to deviate if they’re good enough.
- Advance as soon as you can and pick Heimdall.
- Make an Armory next to the Temple.
- Start building a small army from the Armory and Temple.
- Advance to the next age and pick Njord.
This build order allows you to speed to the Heroic Age very quickly, and with these choice of Gods, you’ll be able to spring a staggering surprise attack.
Scout out your opponent’s base with the Crows and use the Walking Woods power to animate the nearest grouping of trees. Then, cast Undermine in a clear stretch of their base to target their Town Center. Instantly send your attack force to target the Town Center and any other defenses.
This surprise attack will devastate your opponent and maybe even wipe out lesser-skilled players. It’s more comprehensive than other build guides, meaning there’s more room for error as your opponent has more time to concoct their plan whilst you’re setting up this one, so some skill is required.
But if you can pull it off, it’s incredible.
Best Atlantean build order in Age of Mythology Retold
The best build order for the Atlanteans allows them to advance and militarise immediately, preventing most enemy rushes. This also sets you up on the right foot, allowing you to capitalize on everything that makes Oranos so great.
- Assign one villager to Wood, one to Gold, and the rest to Food.
- Spread out your Oracles to corners and key points of the map to keep them out of the way of your enemies whilst providing you with great lines of sight.
- One at a time, send either your Wood or Gold villager to build a House, and then a Temple as soon as you get the chance.
- The moment your Temple is built, advance and pick Prometheus.
- Switch two Hunting villagers to collecting Wood.
- If possible, build an Economy Guild and upgrade your resource-gathering rates.
- Start amassing an army reflecting your opponent’s God and play style.
- Grab the Thief of Fire Prometheus upgrade.
With this build order, you’ll be able to advance to the Classic Age almost immediately, which is key for the Atlantean Gods as they have no offensive power in the first age. After advancing and building your military buildings, you have the freedom of going in any direction you wish.
I’d suggest sticking to this build order for the best chances, however, as competent players can shut down Atlanteans in the early game through organized rushes.
Now that you have four stellar build orders in Age of Mythology: Retold, you can pick your favorite and try it out.
