Best build for the Crucible in No Rest for the Wicked

To defeat the Echo Knight.

Once you unlock the Crucible dungeon in No Rest for the Wicked, you’ll need to craft the best build so you can take on the Echo Knight. This is a rogue-lite dungeon that’s highly challenging, so having a good build will lead you to victory.

No Rest for the Wicked: Best build for the Crucible

With all the weapon types in NRFTW it’s hard to say which build will lead you to staying alive in the Crucible. It all depends on your weapon and armor modifiers, as well as your weight class (fast, normal, and heavy). Overall, I think the best build to take on the Crucible is a fast or normal dual daggers build that includes modifiers to heal you as you damage enemies.

Although I started NRFTW with a staff, I found the dual daggers to be the best weapons in the game. They’re incredibly quick, and with high enough Dexterity and Stamina stats you can deal a crazy amount of damage in a short amount of time without taking a break. I found the one-handed swords and hammers to be too heavy and slow, so dual daggers are a good choice.

For modifiers, you’ll want to enchant your dual daggers and hopefully receive a modifier that heals you by a certain amount each time you deal damage. It’s also good to have a modifier that regenerates your health, meaning you won’t be relying so much on eating food. Anytime you consume food you need to wait a bit until you can eat again, leaving you open to attacks and dying before you can heal yourself.

Other than these healing modifiers, here are some enchantments that you should aim to have on your equipment:

  • Focus regeneration / Gain [x] Focus on damage dealt
  • Attack Stamina decreased by [x]
  • [x] Stamina refill chance on damage dealt
  • Damage dealt increased by [x]

Apart from these modifiers, you can also infuse gems into your equipment through Eleanor in Sacrament. Here are some gems to look out for that can benefit your Crucible build:

  • Bloodstone
    • Helmets: Healing effects increased by [x]
    • Body Armor: Health increased by [x]
    • Pants: Gain [x] Health on Focus use
    • Gloves: Gain [x] Health on Parry
    • Shields: Gain [x] Health on Block
    • Weapons: Gain [x] Health on kill
  • Emerald
    • Helmets: Attack Stamina Cost decreased by [x]
    • Body Armor: Stamina increased by [x]
    • Pants: Stamina regeneration increased by [x]
    • Gloves: Stamina refill on Parry
    • Shields: Gain [x] Stamina on blocked attacks
    • Weapons: Gain [x] Stamina on damage dealt
  • Shield Emblem: Armor increased by [x]

The important thing about the Crucible is to stay alive, and for this build specifically, you want to have as much Stamina as possible to dish out those dagger strikes. Bloodstones (and sometimes Rubies) have healing modifiers, while Emeralds deal with Stamina. Shield Emblems are also good since they increase your Armor in general.

Now that you have a good idea of the best build for the Crucible in NRFTW, you may also be asking yourself what you should do after finishing Act 1.
