Halls of Torment has meta progression in the form of Blessings. This progression style means you still earn gold to spend on permanent upgrades even if you die. These Blessings are essential to your progression, but as they are so expensive, it’s hard to know what to spend your hard-earned gold on first. Let me help you with that and show you the best blessings in Halls of Torment.
Best Blessings in Halls of Torment
You only have access to 6 Blessings when you start Halls of Torment, but that list grows to 16 as you progress through the game. Blessings range from general buffs to powerful niche increases. In this guide, I’ll showcase Blessings that benefit the entire cast as they give you more bang for your buck. Some niche Blessings, like Fire Damage, are amazing for specific characters but useless for others. These are worth your gold eventually, but you’ll get more mileage out of general buffs first.
Damage
Arguably the most important stat in any ‘Survivors-like’ is Damage. If you can kill mobs quickly, you’ll level up faster and stay one step ahead of your enemies. As the old saying goes, ‘A great offense is the best defense.’ That adage couldn’t be more true in Halls of Torment. You’ll immediately see the results from a better Damage stat, and it’ll carry you deeper into runs than ever before.
Attack Speed
With how highly I rate the Damage Blessing, it should surprise nobody that Attack Speed is also here. A boost to Attack Speed means you attack more often and do more damage that way. A higher speed also increases the chance that status effects like ‘Burn’ will trigger.
Another nice bonus of Attack Speed is that it allows you to quickly engage targets in multiple directions without waiting. If you want to become an offensive powerhouse in Halls of Torment, don’t sleep on Attack Speed.
Health Capacity
It’s always worth investing in at least one defensive stat in your Halls of Torment runs. Health Capacity is a great ‘quality of life’ blessing, allowing the cast’s squishier members to survive a few extra hits. The further you are into a run, the more damage enemies do. You can take a lot of hits very quickly in Halls of Torment, and a larger health pool will soften the blow. Health is something you should keep topped up with Base Health increases during your runs.
Movement Speed
Your ability to deal damage and delete mobs is your lifeblood in Halls of Torment. But when the going gets tough, you need an escape plan, and that’s where Movement Speed comes in. Stats that soften the blow when you get hit are nice, but nothing beats the ability to completely dodge out of harm’s way. Movement Speed allows you to disengage and reengage whenever you please and is essential for ranged characters like the Archer.
Pickup Range
If you’ve played Vampire Survivors, you’ll know how powerful the Attractorb and the ‘Pickup Range’ stats are in games like this. Although it’s not a straight damage increase, Pickup Range increases the range that gems are drawn toward your character.
Constantly leveling up is essential in Halls of Torment, and Pickup Range enables this without putting you in harm’s way. Thinning out waves of mobs with superior damage is great, but it’s all for naught if you get hurt while claiming your rewards.
Is Revive a good Blessing?
Revive gives you a free respawn if your run goes south, but it’s not as useful as it appears at first glance. If you die in Halls of Torment, it’s usually because you lack Damage or Speed. Reviving doesn’t solve either of these problems. In fact, it puts you back into the fight without a way to rectify the issues with your build.
Arguably, it can save your neck if you misplay, but it’s nowhere near as important as the other Blessings on this list. Halls of Torment is a difficult game with many cryptic mysteries to solve. If you’re struggling with the first boss, check out our guide on the Token of Pain.
