Best BAS-B build in MW3: Attachments, loadout, and perks

Build a meta defining Battle Rifle

MW3 has thrown a few curve balls at the player base, but one of the biggest is the BAS-B. I never expected to see a Battle Rifle in contention for the best weapons in the game. As it’s so good, let me show you the best BAS-B build in MW3: Attachments, loadout, and perks.

The BAS-B has a monstrous damage profile and can delete players in three shots at an impressive range. The BAS-B has a lousy ammo capacity and hefty recoil to offset this kill potential. We aim to fix those problems with our Attachments:

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor
  • Optic: Slate Reflector
  • Magazine: 30 Round Mag
  • Underbarrel: DR-6 Handstop
  • Stock: Ravage-20 Heavy Stock

Shadowstrike Suppressor

The Shadowstrike Suppressor is a no-brainer, as it keeps us off the radar. We can adopt a mobile playstyle with the BAS-B, so staying off the mini-map is essential.

There are plenty of decent Suppressors, but most negatively impact ADS speed where the Shadowstrike doesn’t.

Slate Reflector

The MK. 3 Reflector and the Slate Reflector are the best options for Optic. I’ve been rocking the latter, and it’s served me well.

The Slate Reflector has a wide-sight picture and a bright dot reticule. As the BAS-B is a Battle Rifle, you can get the job done with a magnifying Optic; I just rarely find it useful with the size of MW3 maps.

A Magnified or Hybrid Optic are both viable choices if you prefer to hold sightlines, like the side paths on Favelas.

30 Round Mag

The BAS-B comes with a pitiful 20-round magazine by default. We have access to 30 and 40-round magazines, but both force us into mobility penalties like reduced ADS speed.

I’d love to have 40 rounds to play with, but the penalties are very noticeable and make the BAS-B feel sluggish. The 30-round magazines are still useable, although the ammo economy is always something we need to manage with this weapon.

DR-6 Handstop

I’ve tested many underbarrel attachments with the BAS-B and have the most consistent performance with the DR-6 Handstop.

With this attachment, the gun kicks straight up and sometimes deviates a little to the side. You can reliably engage long-range targets if you compensate by aiming down as you shoot.

Ravage-20 Heavy Stock

Finally, our stock grants massive improvements to Gun Kick and Recoil control. We lose some movement speed, but our ADS speed remains unchanged.

I’ve experimented with other Stocks, but the Ravage-20 tames the BAS-B’s kick so well that it makes a noticeable difference at all ranges.

I recommend aiming at center mass to get the most out of the BAS-B. The recoil often kicks your aim to the upper chest and head, resulting in a blindingly fast TTK.

The rate of fire on this Battle Rifle is absurd, and once you’re used to it, you can reliably drop opponents in a fraction of a second.

Best secondary, tactical, lethal, and field equipment for the BAS-B

  • Secondary: COR-45
  • Tactical: Stun Grenade X2
  • Field Upgrade: Comm Scrambler

These choices are personal preferences, but as I use the Engineer Vest, we can access two Tacticals. The COR-45 is a decent sidearm and will be used as the BAS-B has small magazines. The player base is starting to realize how oppressive the Comm Scrambler can be, especially on small maps like Rust. The Scrambler is a solid choice for many maps and is fantastic in objective modes.

Best gloves, boots, gear, and vests for the BAS-B build

  • Gloves: Quick-Grip Gloves
  • Boots: Covert Sneakers
  • Gear: Bone Conduction Headset
  • Gear: Ghost T/V Camo
  • Vest: Engineer Vest

The Quick-Grip Gloves will come into play more than you think, as we sometimes rely on our sidearm to secure kills. The Covert Sneakers are fantastic as they make our footsteps silent and pair nicely with the Bone Conduction Headset. I occasionally swap to the Lightweight Boots, but Covert Sneakers are where it’s at most of the time.

Ghost T/V Camo is superb gear as it renders UAVs useless. Use this as a flex slot if you’re already getting value from your Comm Scrambler.

I’m a stickler for the Engineer Vest. Although there’s a case to be made for the other options, I find the ability to see enemy equipment and the extra gear slot too good to pass up.
