Although character creation is only a minuscule part of BG3, it’s still one of the most fun parts of the game. We’ve compiled a list of the 10 best Baldur’s Gate 3 mods for character creation so you can spice up your next character.
Baldur’s Gate 3: 10 best mods for character creation
Tav’s Hair Salon
Probably one of the most popular mods available for BG3 is Tav’s Hair Salon. This mod introduces an enormous amount of hairstyles for your characters to wear.
You may be overwhelmed by the amount of hairstyles available to try out, as they’re all so unique and versatile. But it’s honestly the number one hair mod I use and rely on when creating a new character.
Tasha’s Cauldron of Faces
As one of the most recent uploads on Nexus Mods, Tasha’s Cauldron of Faces adds entirely new custom face presets for both feminine and masculine characters. They’re available for humans, elves, drow, half-elves, and tieflings.
Since Baldur’s Gate 3 only comes with a select few presets, you can easily get bored of the available choices. This face preset mod allows you to customize your characters even further to make them more unique than ever.
Horns of Faerun
Although you do get a nice variety of horns to customize as a tiefling, what if you want more options? The Horns of Faerun mod introduces new horn designs for not just tieflings, but all races and body types except dragonborns.
Some of these horn designs are incredible, as they include hanging accessories and unique color combinations. You can even spot one that resembles deer antlers!
Fancy Camp Clothes
Do you ever find that you and your party members’ camp clothing is getting boring? Don’t fret, because Fancy Camp Clothes adds some incredible outfit mashups for camp clothing.
With variations of four outfits made from game assets, you get 17 outfits in total. The pictures showing off these clothes on party members are really something, there’s so much more detail than their normal outfits.
New Character Creation Presets
If you’re still not satisfied with the last facial preset mod, New Character Creation Presets introduces even more. They include their own textures and meshes, making each face unique to your character.
From the looks of the images, you can tell how many face presets you get with just one mod. It’s also still a work in progress, meaning we’ll get even more faces in the future.

Eyes of the Beholder
As much as I love the eye color options in BG3, Eyes of the Beholder adds so many more unique eye colors and styles. The majority of these eyes are extremely unique, such as the glowing eyes with no pupils, or the neon cat eyes.
If your character isn’t just a human, having some wacky eyes can make them stand out even more. There are so many options it’s hard to choose my favorites (the goat eyes are pretty funny).
Basket Full of Equipment
This is another highly popular mod in the BG3 modding community. Basket Full of Equipment gives you access to a basket that’s filled to the brim with a variety of equipment and gear.
You’ll get the chance to wear armor, boots, gloves, cloaks, and more items that weren’t previously available to your character. A lot of it is just for looks, and with over 400 pieces to try out, you’ll never want to uninstall this mod.
Spirited Seasons – Playable Fey Eladrin
One of the missing races from Baldur’s Gate 3 was the Eladrin. If you’re interested in playing as a cool fey race, try out the Spirited Seasons mod.
If you’re unfamiliar, Eladrin come in four different seasons and are elves native to the Feywild. You’ll even get custom spells based on your type of Eladrin, just like how it works in D&D 5e.
Faces of Faerun
Okay, I promise this is the last face preset mod. But there are so many good ones available it’s hard to pick! Faces of Faerun adds brand new heads into character creation.
It’s one of the more popular mods that BG3 players download. Faces of Faerun adds even more variation to the face presets you have if you weren’t satisfied with the previous two mods (or just download them all).
Covenelf’s Tattoo and Makeup Collection
If you’re not happy with the tattoos and makeup available to you in BG3, Covenelf’s Tattoo and Makeup Collection adds four new makeup styles and six tattoos.
This mod includes some gorgeous face tattoos featuring moons and stars while introducing makeup that enhances your character’s eyes. It plans to include a total of 44 tattoos in the future, so this is also a work-in-progress mod.
