Rebellion has posted a new Battlezone 98 Redux blog which spills a few more details about the classic’s remastering.

Developer Mike Arkin goes into some detail on how they have approached the remastering of the game. They are still working with the old game but have enhanced and “augmented” it where they can.

“We’ve not redesigned the game, though. Instead, we’ve strived to make the game we would have made in 1998 if PCs were 100 times more powerful back then, like they are now. In fact, based on some quick math, maybe perhaps 1000 is a better number (our minimum spec back in 1998 was a Pentium 90!)”, says Arkin in the update.

It’s a good read if you’re looking forward to getting stuck into this new version which we expect will be released quite soon. Find out more about some of the features right here.

If you tune into PC Invasion early next week we’ll have an interview with Mike and Rebellion’s Chris Kingsley.
