Battlefield 3 is top of the UK all-format videogame chart for the second week in a row, with Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3 taking up second spot in its opening week. Data from Chart-Track shows that Uncharted 3 only just managed to edge ahead of third place Fifa 12.
The fact that Uncharted 3 failed to take top spot means that it probably never will. Tomorrow sees the launch of Modern Warfare 3, a game that will likely become the best-selling of all time and will probably hold a top ten position until the next Call of Duty title is released.
There’s also the likelihood that Uncharted 3 sales will drop off dramatically starting next week, as is the usual product life cycle of most triple-A games.
It must be pointed out that Uncharted 3 is a PS3 exclusive, giving it an enormous handicap in generating sales compared to the multi-format Battlefield 3. Naughty Dog’s game did sale more copies than the platform specific editions of Battlefield 3, but lost out in the combined figures.
Is that a fair deal? Read our reviews of the two games to find out:
