Battlefield 3 has passed eight million in total worldwide sales, publisher EA has announced. The number of copies shipped to retailers has surpassed 12 million.
EA CFO Eric Brown revealed the figures yesterday during the Baird Technology Conference in San Francisco. While not quite as impressive as the numbers produced by rival Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, they are impressive nonetheless. The numbers represent a massive upswing in sales compared to Battlefield:Bad Company 2, the previous boxed release in the long-running franchise.
Battlefield 3 currently holds the launch record for EA, selling five million copies in its first week. A total of 10 million units were shipped for launch day.
