Battlefield 2042‘s February update brings changes to the Portal mode and a re-design of the Scoreboard UI. A Twitter thread on the official Battlefield account detailed some of these changes alongside the announcement of tomorrow’s update. The 3.2 and 3.3 Updates deliver “a handful of small fixes and improvements to the game focused around stability.” These updates will address multiple points of criticism that have been levied against the game since its release in November 2021.
Unfortunately, Battlefield 2042 has had a pretty tough time over the last few months. With the usual hiccups that are expected for multiplayer-focused games, as well as other issues bringing the game down, it’s been rough for sure. DICE has been hard at work to bring Battlefield 2042 up to a higher standard though, even amid ‘brutal’ fan expectations.
A good step forward for Battlefield 2042
Update 3.2 is planned to go live tomorrow. DICE has also released a full list of patch notes to go along with it. The update mostly consists of necessary performance improvements and bug fixes. The list isn’t all that extensive, but it’s a step in the right direction for Battlefield 2042.
The 3.3 Update brings much more to the table and releases sometime in mid to late February. The first thing to note here are the changes to the game’s Portal mode. At the moment, Portal does not reward players with XP that goes towards unlocking in-game items. But, with the 3.3 Update, players will finally be able to gain XP in the mode.
An update to Battlefield 2042‘s Scoreboard is also coming in the 3,3 Update. A major point of criticism placed against the game was the decision to not include a traditional scoreboard in it. Soon, though, players will be able to accurately see both their own performance and all other players in a match. The example image that DICE released is still in development and can change further down the line. It’s a rather small addition in the grand scheme of things, but again, it’s a good step towards making the game a more enjoyable experience. Details on other additions in the update are unknown as of now, but patch notes should be available at its release.
DICE has an awful lot on its plate right now, which also includes trying to fix the problems that have been affecting Star Wars: Battlefront 2. But, the developer’s hard work should soon pay off. Battlefield 2042‘s February Update will bring some much-needed changes to the game. Hopefully, the developer is able to address issues in other games soon.
