If you’ve ever wanted to be an evil jailor cat who constructs weird 2D mazes for his inmates to run around in then, err, The Behemoth has probably just satisfied your very specific desires. BattleblockTheatre, the next game from the developers of Castle Crashers, does indeed pit prisoners against one another on block-based worlds presided over by cats. At least, I think that’s what’s going on.

Anyway, you’ll be able to build many a level yourself with the game’s own level editor which is said to be even easier than “putting on your own two shoes”. That is pretty easy. If you have working hands.

Editing and creating levels with friends will be possible, as will downloading, rating and generally sharing newly created levels with all the other folks out there on Xbox Live.

Battleblock Theatre has been due since 2010, so speculating about a release date now would be futile. But it does seem to be getting closer to its appearance on Xbox Live.

Here’s more about the game, in the form of its intro cinematic.
