Batman: Arkham Knight has received its first gameplay trailer – titled Evening the Odds – and four new screenshots.

As you might expect the trailer is really rather impressive, showing Scarecrow buggering Gotham up and Batman taking a spin in the Batmobile. There’s quite a lot more to it than that, but I don’t want to ruin everything. The screens are more about showing Bats looking quite brooding and swooping around, but if nothing else they’re phenomenally pretty.

There’s also mention that this will follow past Batman games in allowing you to play as one of the game’s villains if you pre-order; in this case, pre-orders will net you the ability to play as Harley Quinn.

Batman: Arkham Knight is Rocksteady’s swansong with the Batman: Arkham series, and will be released on 14 October.
