The Kickstarter campaign for Barkley 2 (the sequel to smash-hit RPG Barkley, Shut Up & Jam: Gaiden) is entering its final hours today, with the pledges sat at around $110,000 USD. That’s a fair way through the proposed stretch goals for the project, with a New Game+ mode already confirmed at $90,000 USD and a “terrifying dungeon” called Throat of Geolgothar secured at $100,000 USD.
If $120,000 USD is raised, Tales of Game’s (sic) will add animated cutscenes to the title. Sadly, it looks as if the $1.2 million USD goal for a Super Bowl commercial spot is now a little out of reach.
The team will be livestreaming the last few hours of the campaign from 2pm PST (10pm GMT today). An update will be posted on the Kickstarter page when the stream gets underway.
“We have no idea why anyone would want to watch us watch Kickstarter numbers go up,” say the developers.
Update: Here’s the stream.
~ Conflict of interest alert ~ I have given this project $10 USD, so this news post could (and should) be interpreted as a cynical attempt to generate more pledges and deliver a better game for my own selfish enjoyment. Clispaeth forgive me.
