Baldur's Gate 3 Boat Guide

Baldur’s Gate 3: Where does the boat in Moonrise Towers take you (BG3)

Set sail.

If you decide to take a stroll down to the Moonrise Towers Jail, you’ll find a handful of interesting things to do. But one thing that’s quite easy to miss is a boat that can be found on the northern end of the area. This boat actually has a few uses in Baldur’s Gate 3, which we’ll go all over in this guide.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Where does the boat take you

If you’re having trouble finding the boat, take a look at the map below to help you out. It’s at the very northern tip of the Moonrise Towers Jail. To get there you can climb up a rock wall on the west side of the area. Then just walk around, hop to the stone bridge, and follow the path north to find the boat.

Now this boat is mainly used during the quest to rescue Wulbren in Baldur’s Gate 3. But you don’t need to interact with that quest at all to use this boat. In fact, you can simply break the chains that are keeping the boat fastened to the dock. Then you can hop in it yourself and see where it takes you. The game doesn’t tell you where the boat will lead, but it’s potentially a very nice time saver.

The boat in Baldur’s Gate 3 ends up taking you to the Last Light Inn. Usually, this is accessed by finding it in the Shadowlands. But without knowing where to look it can be tricky to find this place. That makes this boat in the Moonrise Towers Jail a very nice surprise. The Last Light Inn is also where you meet Jaheira for the first time. So all in all this is definitely a location that you’ll want to check out soon. And since the boat lets you skip all of the nastiness in the Shadowlands, taking it is a great opportunity. You’ll eventually need to come here as part of the main quest anyway, but coming a little earlier won’t do any harm.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on PC.
