Once you reach Act 3 in Baldur’s Gate 3, the amount of places you can go is vast. But if you’re in need of getting to the Lower City, then that’s a little bit more complicated. This is especially true if you haven’t been on your best behavior in the game. So, let’s talk about getting into the Lower City in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3: How to get to the Lower City.
The Lower City is located by simply heading north past the South Span Checkpoint. All you need to do is keep heading north until you reach the end of the pathway and you’ll find the entrance to the Lower City. Getting there is a little less simple though since you need to pass the aforementioned South Span Checkpoint.
When you approach this checkpoint you’ll be stopped by Gaunlet Edwynna and a Steel Watcher. She’ll ask you various questions which are easy enough to answer, but its the Steel Watcher that’s the problem. This mech essentially looks into your soul to see if you’re a good person. If you are, it’ll let you through without much issue. However, if you’ve decided to be evil in your choices like helping Ketheric Thorm during Act 2, the Steel Watcher will know and stop you from getting further into Baldur’s Gate. At this point, a fight will break out which is not something you’ll want to do. Luckily there’s a way you can avoid this.
Instead of talking to Edwynna, head to the east and look for some vines to descend the cliff. This will take you near some rafters that you can climb up to get around the checkpoint without issue. Further up the path, there’ll be a drawbridge just before the entrance to the Lower City in Baldur’s Gate 3. The problem is that the bridge is currently up, and you need to convince Blaze Elin to bring it down. You can persuade her to do this but these options have a DC of 30, which makes them hard to succeed. Alternatively, you can get a pass to get through here by doing a part of the Investigate the Suspicious Toys quest.
After that, all you need to do is continue heading forward. There’ll be a short scene where Gortash speaks to you, but this doesn’t require any special treatment. You can then just continue on to the Lower City in Baldur’s Gate 3 by using the area exit just up ahead.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on PC.
