One Baldur’s Gate 3 player on Reddit explained how they discovered a way to help Araj Oblodra and have Astarion drink her blood without breaking up with him.
Normally, choosing this option when romancing Astarion leads to the relationship ending. But this player found specific dialogue choices to keep your relationship intact.
How to have Astarion drink Araj Oblodra’s blood without him breaking up with you in BG3
The post first explains how they told Astarion to drink Araj Oblodra’s blood in Moonrise Towers while romancing him. Then the next conversation you have with Astarion nearly always ends with you two breaking up, since he doesn’t want to drink her blood.
After doing some research, this BG3 player discovered a way to help Araj without breaking up with Astarion. It takes a lot of reloading, but eventually, they figured out the perfect combination of dialogue options. Not only does it lead to you still being together, but it strengthens your relationship.

Although the user jokingly says at the end to enjoy gaslighting Astarion into staying with you, it seems like a viable way to make a deal with Araj and keep romancing Astarion. Here’s how it works and which dialogue choices to pick:
- “I hope you’re all right.”
- “You can still throw your body at me, any time.”
- “Are you not attracted to me? Is that it?”
- “How do you want me to see you?”
- “I care about you.”
- “Hug him.“
If you do end up having Astarion bite her, she’ll reward you with an amazing potion. It’s a permanent +2 Strength potion, which is incredible because it’ll forever buff your Strength stat. Give the potion to someone like Lae’zel or Karlach, anyone who can make use of higher Strength.
