  • Decline Raphael’s deal.

Perform morally good deeds

Gale respects players who choose to help those in need, especially if it’s the morally correct thing to do. Out of all the companions, he’s definitely one of the more moral of the bunch.

Make sure to say yes to helping others with side quests, such as saving someone in need of help or defending a group of helpless people. In the same vein, don’t do anything morally unjust.

Give Gale magical artifacts

One of the ways Gale can keep his ticking time bomb at bay is by consuming magical artifacts. Once he reveals his backstory to you, he’ll ask that you give him any unwanted magic items.

Doing this will easily gain you Gale’s approval. Since you pick up tons of magic artifacts throughout the game, it’ll be easy to keep him satiated. By a certain point in the story he won’t require you to do this anymore, but take advantage of it while you can.

Avoid breaching his privacy

One way to easily gain Gale’s disapproval is by attempting to invade his privacy. Despite him sounding like an open book, he still has a lot of secrets he’d rather keep, so don’t pry too hard.

This also means you shouldn’t invade his mind with your tadpole powers. He won’t be very pleased with you if you try this. Instead, ask him questions out of curiosity rather than sounding like a Nosy Nellie.

Keep and interact with camp animals

There are a couple of different animals you can bring to your camp, such as Scratch or the Owlbear cub. Gale will approve of your actions if you decide to invite them.

This is also true if you pet the camp animals. It’s a pretty simple task, but if it makes Gale happy, try to remember to do it.

Be interested in his magic

If you’re keen on romancing Gale, you’ll have to start being interested in his magical abilities. Some of his romance scenes have him teach you how to mess with the Weave.

Doing this will successfully make Gale happy, especially since it can lead to a more intimate moment. Even if it’s just to be his friend, Gale will appreciate you being interested in his magical teachings.
