PAX East 2020 will take place in Boston next week, from February 27 through March 1. It’ll be home to lots of indie game reveals and AAA title showcases. And, as teased last month, it will also host a glimpse of Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay for the first time.
Larian Studios confirmed the reveal this morning with a YouTube video, posted below. According to the details, the event will take place on the first day of PAX East. It begins at 3:30 p.m. ET, when creative director Swen Vincke will take the stage. He’ll show off gameplay alongside a “very special guest,” who is still a mystery at this point. Perhaps Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk…?
The studio did provide a teaser of what’s to come, however. Alongside the Baldur’s Gate 3 video, the company’s post reads: “You are burdened with a great power devouring you from within. How far down the path of darkness will you let it take you? The fate of Faerûn is on your party’s shoulders. Will you carry it to salvation, or descend with it to hell?”
But what if I can’t fly to Boston this late?!
This will no doubt prove to be a great showcase for those that can make it in person. But in case you can’t — or if the travel to Boston becomes too much to bear — never fear. It will also be broadcast live on YouTube, more than likely on Larian Studios’ channel. We’ll bring you more details as soon as they’re official.
The game is very highly anticipated, with a team of 350 people hard at work on putting it together. You can actually see some of them at work in the video. This includes motion capture, behind-the-scenes design, and other procedures.
Thus far, Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t have a release date. But perhaps Larian Studios will have more information as the next few days roll along. We’ll see what’s in store with this next-generation RPG when it finally arrives.
Baldur’s Gate 3 will arrive on PC via Steam hopefully this year.
