There are tons of companions you can romance in the game, and some that can’t be but should be. For that reason, we’ve created a list of 10 Baldur’s Gate 3 characters that should’ve been romanceable.
While I understand that not every NPC deserves a romantic storyline, there are so many possibilities in an alternate universe that would be incredible. And no, I’m not choosing Isobel or Dame Aylin — they’re in a very happy relationship with each other that I refuse to break.
Baldur’s Gate 3: 10 characters that should be romanceable
Dammon
Dammon is a truly underrated character in BG3. This Tiefling serves as a blacksmith and helps Karlach tame her Infernal Engine. He never really asks for payment for the work he does with Karlach. He helps because he’s a good friend.
I found Dammon to be a wonderful character that I wished to get to know more. Based solely on the way he acts during Karlach’s quest, he would be a great romantic partner.
Jaheira
Although Jaheira was a recruitable companion in BG3, she unfortunately isn’t romanceable in this specific game. In Baldur’s Gate 2, she was a companion and a romance option.
Perhaps if Larian Studios had more time to work on this throwback character, we could’ve gotten a nice romance with her. This High Harper is strong-willed and witty, which would make for a great partner.
Rolan
There are some incredible Tiefling NPCs in this game. You first meet Rolan in the Emerald Grove as he yearns to leave behind the Tieflings for Baldur’s Gate. His sister Lia disagrees, believing that they should help the rest of the Tieflings.
Rolan is a recurring NPC with a lot to love. No spoilers, but some pretty sad stuff happens to him in Act 3. Being able to romance him during his journey has he experiences these hardships would be fascinating.
Orin
If you’re playing an evil character, especially a Dark Urge, having Orin as a romance option would be quite intriguing. After all she has been through, and everything she does during Act 3, it’s hard to see her as a potential love interest.
But what a surprise it would be if you got the option to have a night alone with her. Many BG3 players online have expressed their desire to romance the three main enemies.

Alfira
Alfira is everybody’s favorite Bard is on this list because I’m still surprised she’s not recruitable. If you’re not playing a Dark Urge run, imagine being able to romance this sweet Bard Tiefling.
It’s hard not to like Alfira, and I’d love to get to know her better. Maybe Larian Studios had plans to make her a more important NPC, but Alfira as a romance option would be have been wonderful.
Kar’niss
This is a strange pick, but I swear I’ve spotted fans online actually being interested in romancing Kar’niss. He’s a Drider (Drow with a spider’s torso) who serves the Absolute, and players would absolutely be interested in sweet-talking this gross spider boy.
Not me though, I hate spiders. Nevertheless, it would’ve been interesting to see Kar’niss stick around for longer, especially if you decide to side with him.
Minsc
Remember when I mentioned Jaheira? Well, Minsc was also in Baldur’s Gate 2, but unfortunately, he wasn’t a romance option. He’s a goofy yet strong Ranger character you meet in Act 3, and I would’ve loved to try romancing him.
Who wouldn’t want to romance a character voiced by Matthew Mercer? Although you can recruit him in Baldur’s Gate 3, he’s not one of the romance options. But I wish he was.
Raphael
Here’s another character who didn’t exactly have good intentions. Many players love the idea of romancing evil characters, or characters who are morally grey. Raphael is the Cambion who tries to make a deal with you during Act 1.
In Act 3, you can visit his House of Hope, and you have the option of getting into bed with him. Well, not exactly him, but a Haarlep (incubus) who looks just like him. It would’ve been interesting to spark a true romance with this shady creep.
Volo
I personally don’t like Volo, as I find him annoying. But as a pretty popular Dungeons & Dragons character, Volo is a good choice for a possible romance option. He’ll stick around your camp if you save him, and he can give you a nice buff.
If you don’t mind Volo, you may even consider a romance with him. He’s widely known within the D&D universe, so it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to see him as an option.
Gortash
Finally, another popular evil character whom players wish to romance is Gortash. He’s a wildly charismatic individual who likes you even more if you play as the Dark Urge. If you ever decided to play an evil character, why wouldn’t you want to go for him?
As a powerful politician, Gortash is an influential figure in Baldur’s Gate, and you could rule the city alongside him. Perhaps in some future DLC Larian Studios will add him as an option, but is that an unrealistic request?
