avatar frontiers of pandora gameplay trailer delayed 2023

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been delayed until after March 31 next year

Your trip to Pandora will have to wait longer.

It’s been roughly a year since we last heard anything about Ubisoft’s Avatar game. Outside of a reveal trailer and graphics showcase, the French publisher/developer has mostly remained silent regarding its blue aliens. Ubisoft has had a busy year, though, celebrating 15 years of Assassin’s Creed and finally re-revealing Skull and Bones. However, for Avatar, its time under the spotlight will wait a bit longer. The company has announced in a new financial report that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been delayed until 2023-2024.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has likely seen delays before. Rumor has it the game was in development for a number of years and would have come out sooner. But the Disney purchase of Fox Interactive may have put a damper on things. The game’s official announcement came about last year, along with Ubisoft’s plans for a 2022 launch window. Now, we won’t see the game until after March 31, 2023.

“We are committed to delivering a cutting-edge immersive experience that takes full advantage of next-gen technology, as this amazing global entertainment brand represents a major multi-year opportunity for Ubisoft,” the company stated in its financial report.

New launch date looking misty

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is, of course, based on the popular film franchise by Director James Cameron. The first film came out way back in 2009, and championed the short-lived gimmick of 3D movies. Its sequel has been in the works for some time, but will premiere at last this December. The Ubisoft game will end up being part of a plethora of Pandora, as its release may be nestled between the second and third film — which is scheduled for the end of 2024.

Regardless, fans will only have the second movie to lean on for a while, now that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been delayed until fiscal year 2023.

In the Ubisoft report, the company also mentioned other things in the works. The Ubisoft Forward event this September will “reveal the future of the Assassins’ Creed brand.”
