Assassin’s Creed III Could See Female Protagonist

This article is over 15 years old and may contain outdated information

Although we’re still waiting for the launch of Assassin’s Creed II, set in the beautiful backdrop of Venice, there are murmurs regarding the third game already. When we spoke to Vincent Pontbriand at E3, we suggested the third game should focus on the French revolution or the Ottoman Empire. Pontbriand said whichever period was chosen, it would have to be a “pivotal moment which changed humanity,” and was impressed with the Ottoman era suggestion. However, recent news suggests we could see a female assassin and a WWII setting.Speaking to Xbox World 360, producer Sébastien Puel said that a female protagonist would have to be supported by the story.”Where would that make sense? We don’t want to just decide we want to change and have a female hero as the first inspiration is always the time period, but if you’re talking about, say, World War II the economies in England and France were run by women because the men were off fighting.”With Pontbriand also telling us that the third, and any subsequent game, could go back before the time of the second game (as long as it doesn’t go further back than the first game), there is scope to do many more games which focus on “pivotal moment[s]” in history.”I’m often asked if we’re doing a third game after ACII… I mean, we could do 35 of these,” added creative director, Patrice Fortier. We’ll have a whole lot more on this in the coming weeks, so make sure you stay tuned and keep checking.
