Operation Arrowhead was developed with the intention of “enlarging Arma 2 to a completely new level”, shifting the action to a brand new setting and adding new features.

Set three years after the events of Arma 2, Operation Arrowhead is set in the fictional region of Takistan and includes three new world maps with new terrain; desert, a city and surrounding countryside and a mountainous region.

The expansion also includes a number of new features like support for controlling UAVs and a fully-modelled FLIR thermal imaging simulation (which can detect heat in gun barrels and vehicle engines). Operation Arrowhead also sports a brand new campaign which apparently features a “storyline that serves as a chilling reminder to the geo-political situation the world finds itself in on a constant basis.” Crikey.

In the spirit of realism the expansion will also add a detachable backpack allowing you to carry more equipment and a new optics system which allows players to “zero” their weapon sights to account for “ballistic fall-off.”

Operation Arrowhead is due for release worldwide on PC on 29 June.
