Many Fortnite fans are wondering if Arena is ever coming back to the game, which we’ve answered below. You’re not alone if you also feel this way.
Arena was previously the main competitive mode, but it was then replaced by Ranked on May 2023. So is this mode ever coming back? Let’s find out.
When is Arena mode in Fortnite coming back?
After Epic Games discontinued Arena mode in update v24.40, fans of this mode have wondered since then whether it would ever make a comeback. Unfortunately, Arena is never coming back to Fortnite, since Ranked mode completely replaced it.
It’s been half a year since Ranked overtook Arena mode in Fortnite, and players are still wondering whether it’ll ever see the light of day again. Here’s what the blog post from Epic Games had to say about it: “With the addition of Ranked, Arena will be discontinued in v24.40.”

Although Epic Games posted this when the update first came out, no news about Arena rising from the dead has surfaced. There were some unique features in Arena that many players reminisce about, such as the Siphon (ability to regenerate health/shield after getting an elimination), the dangerous storm, and the leagues you could work up to.
You’d have to earn Hype to advance to higher leagues and unlock exclusive tournaments. But now in Ranked, it works like most online game competitive system. It starts with Bronze and Silver, going to Gold a Platinum, and so on. Many Fortnite fans found Arena mode to be more enjoyable, but Ranked is still a fairly new mode, so anything could change in the future.
Perhaps someday Epic Games will bring back Arena mode. Fortnite OG has players going back to old Fortnite seasons for a whole month, so perhaps Arena could make a reappearance temporarily. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Fortnite is available on the Epic Games Store.
