Enshrouded features a huge open world map that would be easier to navigate if there were mounts. In this guide, you’ll learn about the state of mounts in Enshrouded.
How to tame a mount in Enshrouded
Unfortunately, Enshrouded doesn’t have mounts or tamable animal companions of any kind currently. I know, I’m sad about it too. Riding around on the back of a horse, or a wolf, or an eagle would make Enshrouded that much cooler.

I add “currently” because Enshrouded is still in early access which means mounts may come down the line. This is a question that gets asked a lot in the Enshrouded Discord, so the developers are aware of the community’s want for mounts. There are no current plans for mounts, but that doesn’t mean it’s a no in the future.
Best traversal methods in Enshrouded
While it’s a bummer that Enshrouded doesn’t yet have mounts, there are a lot of great ways to get around. In fact, I believe it would be helpful for you to know the three best traversal methods in Enshrouded.
- Flame Altar fast travel
- Glider
- Sprinting
Flame Altar fast travel
The best way to get around the open world of Enshrouded is with Flame Altar fast travel. I recommend placing a Flame Altar in an area you’re exploring that is a decent way away from an Ancient Shrine. This allows you to save your exploration, return back and forth from your home base to drop off supplies, and give you a solid place to respawn if you die.
Flame Altars cost five stones which you can quickly get basically anywhere. It’s worth noting that you can only place up to four Flame Altars, so make sure to extinguish the ones you aren’t using.
Glider
The second best way to travel in Enshrouded is with the Glider. You’ll unlock it fairly early in the game through the workbench. It costs eight Shroud Wood, two Animal Fur, two String, and two Shroud Spores. I recommend fast traveling to an Ancient Spire and then gliding off toward the area you need to go.
Sprinting
Last but not least, your main source of traversal in Enshrouded is sprinting. You can increase how far you can go by putting more skill points into Endurance to get more Stamina. The more Stamina you have, the farther you can sprint.
Traversal is great and all, but at some point, you need to make a bed and rest for the night. I don’t recommend traveling at night because the darkness hides enemies and cliffs, both of which can kill you if you aren’t careful.
