Are there difficulty options in Wild Hearts? – Answered

Static or dynamic?

When experiencing an action-focused game, players may want to choose from a list of difficulty options for any number of reasons. Some players may want to pick an easier difficulty to focus more on the story or simply to avoid overwhelming themselves. Others, however, will want to push their skills or gain a deeper knowledge of the combat system by diving straight into the hardest available setting. With Omega Force’s Wild Hearts officially releasing tomorrow, many players will want to learn about the game’s potential difficulty options ahead of time. So what kinds of difficulty options, if any, does Wild Hearts incorporate into the experience?

Can players tweak the difficulty in Wild Hearts?

As far as we can tell, Wild Hearts does not offer a traditional list of difficulty levels or a difficulty slider. For the most part, the hunts have set levels of difficulty, and players need to use whatever tools they have to meet challenges on their own terms. This approach to difficulty echoes the Monster Hunter series, which features countless hunts with varying difficulty levels that players cannot change beforehand.

However, this does not mean that the difficulty stays completely static no matter what. Wild Hearts boasts a dynamic difficulty system that adjusts depending on if players approach a hunt solo or with fellow hunters. This means that the boss creature, or Kemono, will have higher stats to account for each player that joins a hunt. However, due to the inherent advantages of having more players, the hunt may still become easier overall.

If you jump in expecting an easy time, you may become either delighted or dismayed to learn that the overall level of difficulty of Wild Hearts is quite high, at least according to several players and the developers themselves. Having said that, if you already have experience with Monster Hunter, that should help you quite a bit.
