We live in an age where online games won’t work 100 percent of the time. Modern Warfare 3 is not the exception. If you want to know if the Call of Duty servers are down, you’ve come to the right place.
Call of Duty: Are the servers down?
Whether you are experiencing stuttering or are unable to access any online functionality, the good news is that there is an official online service dedicated page for Call of Duty. However, in my experience, it will take a while before it gets updated, especially if a new season drops or new content arrives in Modern Warfare 3. Therefore, there are other pages you can check out to see if the issue is due to server instability or if your internet is the one at fault:
- Visit the DownDetector Call of Duty page. While this might be an unofficial source, it is entirely user-dependent, with DownDetector compiling each of the players’ reports and providing valuable insight.
- Follow CODUpdates X (formerly known as Twitter) handle. If there is an issue regarding connectivity or a game-breaking glitch, you can be assured that CODUpdates will report it. They will also link to their issue Trello board so that you can follow up on known issues for Modern Warfare 3.
- Visit Modern Warfare 3’s subreddit and Steam discussion board. While you will encounter the occasional troll and meme, users will be fast to report any error – especially connection errors – that may appear during their sessions.
Is Warzone down? How to check server status
If you are playing Warzone exclusively, you might encounter specific issues that may be tampering with your experience. Call of Duty and Warzone servers are different, so there might be a chance that Multiplayer and Warzone may not be offline at the same time or have the same issues simultaneously. Whatever the case you can still visit Activision’s Call of Duty Online Services page where you will be able to check Warzone’s server status. If you want something resembling DownDetector, you can also visit DownForEveryoneOrJustMe Warzone page. Surely an appropriate name for a website. Be sure to follow CODUpdates as well and visit Warzone’s subreddit for any user reports.

How to fix connectivity issues
Even if the servers are up on Activision’s end, you may not be able to access Modern Warfare 3. This has happened to me several times, but thankfully, it’s an easy fix if you do the following:
- Check your internet or reset it because sometimes, your router may be the sole issue. By resetting it, you’re giving the router a fresh start.
- If you use a wireless connection, the link from the router to your computer or console may be weak. This is something that I had problems with, but connecting it via ethernet cable, my internet issues seem to have dropped for the most part.
- Sometimes certain modes like Zombies will have problems that might not impact the whole game. If this happens to you, try a different mode to see if it’s isolated.
