How to play Apex Legends x Final Fantasy VII Takeover game mode
Takeovers are back in Apex Legends! The Unranked Battle Royale game mode will be replaced with the Final Fantasy VII Takeover LTM. In this game mode, you’ll be able to find the Buster Sword R2R5, which is different from the Buster Sword R5 Heirloom, and use light and heavy attacks, block incoming damage, dash toward your enemy, and use the Limit Break.
As you play, you’ll notice colorful balls on the ground. These are called Materia Hop-Ups. These Hop-Ups can only be attached to select weapons and spawn in the world via event-limited Cactuar Ticks. There are five Materia in total and here’s what they all do:
- Blue Materia – Damage enemies to heal yourself.
- Green Materia – Reload an empty weapon to emit a shock nova, damaging and slowing nearby enemies.
- Purple Materia – Random criticals provide extra damage.
- Red Materia – Summon a Nessie companion to attack your foes.
- Yellow Materia – Damage enemies to see their remaining health.
All Apex Legends x Final Fantasy VII cosmetics, explained
It wouldn’t be an Apex Legends event if there weren’t skins being sold at a ridiculous price, right? As you’d expect, the Apex Legends x Final Fantasy VII crossover event has 36 cosmetics to collect, most of which are only available for a limited time.
The six Final Fantasy VII legend skins look amazing and you can even get the first-ever universal Heirloom which is Cloud’s Buster Sword. The six FF7 skins are available for individual purchase in the Item Shop and the Buster Sword R5 Heirloom is randomly awarded from event packs. Happy hunting!
