Tactical ability: Missile Swarm
Valkyrie’s Missile Swarm fires a block of missiles in a mortar-like arc and is very easy to aim at a general area. The cooldown timer is 25 seconds, which fits in about even with several other Legends. Missile Swarm fires 12 rockets and will disorient any enemies it hits. The first missile will deal 30 damage to a Legend. Any after that will only deal three damage. That science doesn’t check out, but you can see how an ability that deals 360 damage in a very short space of time would be a bit too powerful if gone unchecked.
The best thing to use Missile Swarm for is to flush enemies out of cover. If you manage to land some shots on an enemy and they take cover behind a box or rock, get some altitude and fire a swarm of mini rockets at the location. If they panic and run from cover before healing, you’ll have a good shot at knocking them. Otherwise, they’ll stay behind cover and take the hits from Missile Swarm. You can then push to close out the kill along with holding a big movement advantage while they’re stunned.
If there’s smoke or gas on the battlefield and you’re struggling to track the movement of enemies, fire a Missile Swarm into the obstructing haze. Any damage dealt will identify enemy locations. Plus, if they’re hit by a few rockets, the damage indicators will tell you which direction they’re moving in.
Valkyrie’s Missile Swarm isn’t just an offensive ability. The threat of damage combined with the disorient effect can be used to stall enemies who are chasing you. Use the VTOL Jets to fly backward, while maintaining your momentum. Then fire the missile array into the path of the enemies pursuing you. They will be forced to change direction or be hit and slowed. This Valkyrie tip is particularly useful in narrow spaces.
On that note, be careful when firing Missile Swarm indoors. You can damage and disorient yourself.
