Apex Legends Fuse analysis guide — Abilities, advantages, and shortcomings

A real troublemaker.

Conclusion

Fuse’s personality tends to sync up perfectly with his abilities. This Legend can cause a great deal of mayhem on the battlefield, but in many cases, that’s all he’s good for. I’ve mained Fuse in Apex Legends for the past two weeks and worked to understand his capabilities and use them to their fullest potential. At times he feels quite powerful, but he can also come up short if you fail to use his abilities properly.

I also spoke to Diamond-level and higher ranked Apex Legends players to gather their opinions on Fuse’s viability in high-level play. While I can’t quote the profanity they used to voice their opinions, I can say that he is considered less than ideal. It’s not simply a matter of Fuse himself being that bad, but rather him not being as good as other options. The ranked meta is generally solidified at this point, and only Horizon has managed to shake things up recently.

Fuse will likely just be a powerful and fun option to use in pubs. Once the initial hype for using him dies off, you’ll probably only seen him as often as Revenant or Loba. His Ultimate is simply far too tricky to use in certain situations, plus it can be completely countered in a number of ways. Skilled and experienced players will be able to deal with Fuse, while lesser-skilled players will potentially panic or get trapped in his offensive onslaught of fire and grenades. Take that for what it is.

Apex Legends Season 8 Fuse

Why does it look like he’s holding a fish?

I personally will continue to use Fuse, as I think my playstyle meshes well with his abilities. But he also needs a good team to support him when going up against top squads in Apex Legends. For these reasons, he’s really more of a niche attacker like Octane, though as I argued, his offensive power can make for a solid defense. Playing Fuse requires careful calculations, and you need to be an opportunist that can spot ideal moments during engagements to make use of his abilities to sow chaos. Otherwise, you may want to look at other options.

Season 9 update: Now that Fuse has two charges for Knuckle Cluster, his ability to push enemies is even greater and I suggest you give him another try if you felt he was underwhelming during Season 8. His breach abilities are now effectively doubled, and you can spam at least one grenade in every firefight now.
