Apex Legends Fuse analysis guide — Abilities, advantages, and shortcomings

A real troublemaker.

Passive: Grenadier

Recommended Videos

Fuse’s robotic arm and Passive ability makes him a truly unique option compared to the other Legends in the Apex Games. Grenadier allows him to: “Stack an extra grenade per inventory slot. Fire grenades farther, faster, and more accurately.” As you can tell, this is really more like several passive perks that you get to enjoy when playing Fuse. When playing other Legends, I didn’t tend to use grenades all that often. There were certainly cases where I did decent damage with grenades, such as in big firefights, but they were typically just good for dislodging an enemy from cover.

Fuse changes everything though, because you can easily carry half a dozen grenades of different types on you at all times. Grenadier essentially allows you to spam grenades, which can feel overpowered if you know how to place them. Not only that, but you can fire them in faster succession and at higher velocities with straighter arcs. The added velocity means that frag grenades can be ricocheted off of walls. This is particularly useful if you come across a Caustic or Watson team, as Fuse will wreak havoc on their bunker strategy. Combine his Tactical with some extra grenades, and you’ll either kill or dislodge any team camping inside a small area.

Arc Stars are particularly good with Fuse though, because sticking enemies is much easier. I managed to spot camping enemies or those reviving their teammates and easily used an Arc Star to great effect. The added velocity really helps to cover the distance and ensure you get the stick. Once that’s achieved, the rest of the fight should be in the bag.

Thermite grenades are better also, because they work well with Fuse’s Ultimate to cover large areas with walls of fire that will slow enemies. This is a tricky strategy to employ, but you can restrict enemy movement for well over a dozen seconds with enough grenades and an Ultimate.

Being able to leverage more grenades to greater effect can keep you safe from enemy fire while still putting out damage. It can also force enemies to relocate in more situations, which you can use to your advantage to control a fight. However, the utility of this perk will largely vary based upon the terrain you’re in, as well as your positioning. A small collection of grenades is not always useful, so you will need to play a certain role in firefights to properly leverage Fuse in Apex Legends. You’ll also want to make sure you’re not overdoing it with grenades when gunfire could be more effective.
