Rob Anderberg, technical director on upcoming MMO APB, has said the game’s subscription model will offer players value for money, more so than people may expect.
Speaking to IncGamers, Anderberg said that players can expect to receive new content all the time.
“I think what we maybe didn’t effectively communicate was that people are getting new stuff, all the time, for free. For free in ‘mobile phone terms’. You’re paying for your hours, but we’re actually giving you new stuff.”
He went on to explain that the team understands the normal MMO subscription model isn’t ideal for everyone, and that not everyone has time to sink into the game. Regardless of subscription choice, Realtime Worlds has promised to continue to provide new content constantly.
“We’re fixing the bugs but we’re also putting new features in the game – it’s not just an expansion at the end of the year, or whatever. You’re kinda paying for the service, plus new stuff,” said Anderberg.
APB will be released later this year and offers two subscription models. The first is the normal, monthly subscription plan while the second is a pay-as-you-go scheme, where you buy hours of gameplay.
We’ll have a lot more from Realtime Worlds in the coming week, so keep your eyes open.
