Since Rise of the Ronin is set in 19th-century Japan, there are a lot of weapons and combat styles to play with. With so many weapons and game-changing fighting styles, you can decide where East and West collide.
Rise of the Ronin weapons: Close and ranged combat
Rise of the Ronin has two weapon pools: close combat and ranged combat. In the latest Rise of the Ronin combat trailer, we learn a lot about the different weapons we’ll be able to use in the game. We also know that there are nine close-combat weapons. Here’s what we’ve seen so far:
- Close Combat
- Katana
- Bayonet
- Spear
- Dual Blade
- Saber
- Oxtail Sword
- Great Sword
- Odachi
- Naginata
- Ranged Combat
- Handgun
- Rifle
- Bow
- Fire Pipe
- Grappling Hook
From the gameplay we’ve seen, it looks like you can combine close combat with ranged combat similar to the Blaster and Blade stance in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Close combat gets even more fun when you consider the combat styles.
Rise of the Ronin combat style: Sky, Earth, and Human
If the various weapons weren’t interesting enough, each close combat weapon can use a different combat style. In a PlayStation Blog, we learn that the combat styles are split into three groups: Ten (Sky, Chi (Earth), and Jin (Human).
We know that as you make bonds with characters in the game, you’ll unlock more combat styles, but for now, we don’t know what all the combat styles are. Here are all the combat styles we know of so far:
- Combat styles
- Mumyo Style
- Hokushin Itto Style
- Yagyu Shinkage Style
- Hayabusa-ryu
- Nioh-ryu
- Aisu Kage-ryu
While we know a lot about the weapons and combat styles in Rise of the Ronin, we’ll know even more when the game releases. We’ll be sure to update this article when the game releases and we have a better understanding of all the weapons and combat styles and how to get them. We can’t wait for Rise of the Ronin and already know it’ll be one of the top 10 RPGs of 2024.
