All ways to use Plates and Balloons in LEGO Fortnite

Pressure and Trigger plates give LEGO Fortnite creators more options for controlling their builds. You can find both in the Build Menu under Toys – Controls. Pressure plates are pretty self-explanatory and they work like switches. Step onto the plate to activate it, and off to deactivate it.

If you place a Pressure Plate on a Dynamic Base with Thrusters or an Activated Balloon, you can trigger those toys by standing on the plate. You can also assign channels with the Wrench for more complex builds.

The Trigger Plate is similar but doesn’t require constant pressure to activate it. You can stand on the Trigger Plate to activate it, and it will remain live until you step on it again.

Fortunately, both Switch types are easy to make, with the same recipe, so feel free to experiment.

Pressure and Trigger Plate

These additions to LEGO Fortnite work perfectly for flying vehicles with Activated Balloons, so let’s look at those next.

How to use Activated Balloon Small and Large in LEGO Fortnite

Activated Balloons are a massive addition to LEGO Fortnite, especially if you enjoy making flying vehicles. You can deploy and retract Activated Balloons at the touch of a button, and link them to channels like Pressure and Trigger plates.

The best part about Activated Balloons is how easy they are to use. Pick a Large or Small Activated Balloon from the Build Menu under Toys – General and place it on a Dynamic Base.

You can choose how to trigger the Activated Balloon from the Toys – Controls menu. Place an Activation Switch, Pressure Plate, or Trigger Plate. Interact with whatever you place, and your Balloon will activate.

If you’re new to vehicle building, the Activation Switch is the most straightforward control to use as you can simply interact with it to turn it on and off.

Both Activated Balloons are cheap to construct, and require the following materials:

Activated Balloon Small

  • Silk Fabric x1
  • Torch x1
  • Cord x1

Activated Balloon Large

  • Silk Fabric x2
  • Torch x1
  • Cord x1

The difference between Balloons is in their size and power. You’ll usually need a few small Balloons to pull a vehicle off the ground. The Large Balloon has far greater strength, and can often lift compact creations without assistance.

Gone are the days of popping balloons to descend mid-air. I’m sure we will see phenomenal builds when minds more creative than mine get comfortable with the new mechanics.

I imagine some geniuses will figure out a way to use Balloons to AFK XP Farm. Epic Game is proactive in stopping AFK farming, so enjoy any discovered methods while you can!

Plates and Balloons are a superb new addition to LEGO Fortnite, but nothing beats vehicles and engines. You can create simple cars with some practice, and they are the best way to traverse the map.
