Diablo 4 is like a demonic wedding cake: built-in tiers of escalating splendor and difficulty. You can choose to stick to the lower tiers, tackling Cellars and side quests; move up to the middle, where Dungeons and Campaign quests await; or brave the third tier, where the game’s sinister Strongholds lie in wait.

These are essentially Dungeons set in the overworld, featuring tougher enemies and bosses than your average Dungeon, and more of a developed narrative as well. They represent some of the most significant early-game challenges Diablo 4 has to offer, and they also provide some of the most significant rewards, unlocking Waypoints, extra Dungeons, and side quests once you clear them. Fractured Peaks Stronghold Locations

  • Nostrava “A quiet mountain village with a sinister secret.”
    • Location – On the western edge of Fractured Peaks, north of the Nevesk Waypoint.
    • Rewards – Nostrava Waypoint, Cultist Refuge Dungeon, NPCs.

 

  • Kor Dragan “Once a bastion of the Knights Penitent, this desecrated fortress stands abandoned.”
    • Location – At the northern tip of Fractured Peaks, northeast of the Menestad Waypoint.
    • Rewards – The Gathering Legion World Event.


  • Malnok “An icebound settlement besieged by endless blizzard.”
    • Location – On the eastern side of Fractured Peaks, south of the Bear Tribe Refuge Waypoint.
    • Rewards – NPCs appear in the Malnok area.

 

Scosglen Stronghold Locations

  • Túr Dúlra “Once the greatest Druidic College, this overgrown ruin stands as a reminder of a great calamity.”
    • Location – On the west coast of Scosglen, east of the Cerrigar Waypoint.
    • Rewards – Túr Dúlra Waypoint, Underroot Dungeon, NPCs.


  • Hope’s Light “A great lighthouse towering above the jagged shores, its sacred flame has been extinguished.”
    • Location – At the northernmost point of Scosglen, and Sanctuary in general, north-east of the Marowen Waypoint.
    • Rewards – Flooded Depths Dungeon.


  • Moordaine Lodge “Hidden deep in the verdant forest, this lodge was once revered by the great hunters of Scosglen.”
    • Location – On the eastern edge of Scosglen, north of the Tirmair Waypoint.
    • Rewards – Twisted Hollow and Feral’s Den Dungeons.

  • Temple of Rot “A rotten, putrid evil has taken up residence in these hallowed halls.”
    • Location – Just east of the Fields of Hatred in Dry Steppes, north of the Jirandai Waypoint.
    • Rewards – No special Rewards.


  • The Onyx Watchtower “A trader’s way station overrun by thieves and murderers.”
    • Location – Roughly in the middle of Dry Steppes, southeast of the Ked Bardu Waypoint.
    • Rewards – The Onyx Watchtower Waypoint, Onyx Hold Dungeon, NPCs.


  • The Ruins of Qara-Yisu “The salt-covered ruins of a town afflicted by a sadistic curse.”
    • Location – In the southeast corner of the Dry Steppes, south of the Hidden Overlook Waypoint.
    • Rewards – Ruins of Qara Yisu Waypoint, Shifting City, and Pallid Delve Dungeons, NPCs.

 

Kehjistan Stronghold Locations

  • Altar of Ruin “Lost for centuries, legends speak of a malefic temple of great evil.”
    • Location – In the northwest corner of Kehjistan, northeast of the Iron Wolves Encampment Waypoint.
    • Rewards – Altar of Ruin Waypoint, Sepulcher of the Forsworn Dungeon.


  • Omath’s Redoubt “The stench of death and decay lingers heavily over this devastated battlefield.”
    • Location – Just west of the Fields of Hatred in the south of Kehjistan, southwest of the Denshar Waypoint.
    • Rewards – Crumbling Hekma Dungeon.


  • Alcarnus “A long-abandoned desert city with a terrible past.”
    • Location – On the eastern side of Kehjistan, northwest of the Tarsarak Waypoint.
    • Rewards – No special Rewards.

 

Hawezar Stronghold Locations

  • Crusader’s Monument “An abandoned monument to the failed Zakarum crusade.”
    • Location – On the western edge of Hawezar, north of the Zarbinzet Waypoint.
    • Rewards – No special Rewards.


  • Vyeresz “Deep in the swamps of Hawezar, this village is said to harbor a great mystery.”
    • Location – Roughly halfway along the southern coast of Hawezar, west of the Backwater Waypoint.
    • Rewards – Vyeresz Waypoint, Shadowed Plunge Dungeon, NPCs.


  • Eriman’s Pyre “The flames that engulf this remote settlement have raged for decades.”
    • Location – In the northeast of Hawezar, east of the Wejinhani Waypoint.
    • Rewards – Oblivion Dungeon.
