Lorelei and the Laser Eyes: How to Open Every Safe

There are five Safes, each with a unique keypad. There’s always a letter on a nearby table with a clue for the combination. Many puzzles are randomized in Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, so your solutions may differ from mine. That said, I can still explain how the puzzles work, as deciphering the keypads is the hardest part.

The Safe with Four Buttons

Let’s start with the one that took me the longest time to figure out. The trick here is that the Safe doesn’t care what order you press the buttons; the amount is more important.

The letter has a couple of highlighted parts. 1847 and “five hundred years.” Add those together for your combination: 2347. To enter the code, you must press each button the matching amount of times. For example, the button on the far left must be pressed twice, and the one at the end must be pressed seven times. There’s no indicator you’ve done it correctly, but the safe should open when you interact with the handle.

The Safe with Two Dials

The solution for this safe is less cerebral than the one with Four Buttons. The letter highlights 1847 and “Minutes and hours are years.” Convert the year into time, and it becomes 18:47. If you imagine the Dials as hours and minutes on a clock face, it matches 6:47 on an analog clock.

Copy my dials above to open the Safe.

This is another confusing keypad, but you’ll kick yourself when you realize what to do. Once again, the combination is 1847. Imagine each shape on the keypad is made of cubes. The amount of cubes dictates the number. For example, the tiny square above the “H” shape near the middle is one. The shape that looks like a tetromino on the top is four.

Pick the shapes with the corresponding amount of squares to enter 1847 to crack the safe.

The Safe with LED Buttons

The LED Safe is tricky because it’s easy to get the wrong code. The letter gives the year 1847 but also says, “Lorenzo The Great walked forty-nine years on this earth.” The combination is 1847 – 49, so 1798.

To enter this onto the Keypad, imagine it as a calculator screen and draw each number. Keep in mind that the “one” is a straight line down the right side. If you do it on the left, it won’t work. Interact with the handle after you’ve entered each number to crack the safe.

The Safe with Three Dials

Finally, we’re at the Three Dial Safe. The letter has 1847 highlighted and reads, “For how could one live forty years on sacred grounds without knowing?” The equation is 1847 – 40, so the solution is 1807.

You’ll have to twist each dial to get the correct year to show. If your puzzle is the same as mine, you can match my configuration in the image above.

Each safe contains a Computer Disc you can put into any PC to confuse yourself even more! Once you’ve cracked every safe, why not try and solve the Document Tube puzzles? Without delving into spoilers, the rewards are absolutely worth it and will make unraveling the Hotel’s mysteries much easier.
