With the Lost Isles update, LEGO Fortnite’s Essence Table has been replaced by the mighty Rune Forge, where players can roll runes and use them to imbue their weapons with great powers and bonuses.

There are seven runes in LEGO Fortnite, and they each have three tiers of strength (so technically there are 21 runes in the game).

How to unlock and use the Rune Forge in LEGO Fortnite Lost Isles

The Rune Forge isn’t exactly a new item in LEGO Fortnite, as it’s a replacement for the Essence Table (although essence is an actual component now). You will unlock the Rune Forge upon gaining Glass for the first time.

You can build the Rune Forge with the following materials:

• 20x Knotroot
• 6x Glass

Once the Rune Forge is placed down, you can use it to enhance your tools and weapons. Each eligible item can have up to three runes. Once a rune is selected, you can’t take it off or change it, so be very careful!

Upon selecting an item, you will be given a choice of three random runes from the ones you’ve unlocked. But don’t worry, you can reroll them. It costs essence to equip a rune, with more powerful renditions of a rune costing more essence. Thankfully, you can gain essence from doing virtually anything in LEGO Fortnite.

When first building the Rune Forge, you’ll unlock the runes of durability, damage, health, and luck. You’ll need to unlock other runes by finding the special Klombo Rune Tomes.

Where to find Tomes in LEGO Fortnite Lost Isles: Locations, explained

To unlock new runes to boost your weapons and tools in LEGO Fortnite, you’ll need to acquire Klombo Rune Tomes. These Tomes, upon being read, unlock a random rune or your perpetual use.

Both Tome types seem to only be found in chests on the many floating islands that hover above the land. You’ll need to be very creative in your method of getting up there, but the rewards are worth it!

You could try the following:

• Building up with a giant staircase
• Being launched by a Klombo
• Building a floating platform up
• Constructing an aircraft
