Mastering the gameplay of Remnant 2 can be challenging due to its intricacies. One important aspect to remember is the various status effects that can impact your character. To effectively manage these effects, it’s crucial to understand each one and know the appropriate methods for handling them. Here, we’ll review all Remnant 2 status effects so you know exactly how to deal with them should your character suffer (and trust me, it will happen).
Remnant 2: All status effects explained
Here are all Remnant 2 status effects:
- Bleeding: This effect gradually causes harm for 20 seconds and reduces the effectiveness of healing by half, and can accumulate up to 3 times. It can be cured by applying a Bandage (which will also restore all Grey Health), or it will naturally expire after a certain period.
- Burning: This effect causes you to catch on fire and suffer damage for 10 seconds, which can be stacked up to 3 times. To cure it, use Mud Rub (which will also increase Fire resistance by 15 for 10 minutes) or wait for it to expire after a specific time. I have also found that performing a roll can reduce the remaining Bruning status effect time significantly.
- Corroded: The Corroded status effect causes your armor to decrease. You can cure the Corroded status effect using an Antidote (which will also increase Acid resistance by 15 for 10 minutes).
- Curse: You can eliminate the Curse status effect by using a Purified Salve (which will also increase Blight Resistance by 25 for 10 minutes).
- Irradiated: The Irradiated status effect halves your Stamina and is shown as the yellow bar above your Health and Stamina. You can cure Irradiated by using a Heavy Water Elixir (which will also increase your Radiation resistance by 15 for 10 minutes).
- Overloaded: The Overloaded status effect causes a small explosion or lightning damage between all characters. You can cure Overloaded using an Ethereal Orb (which will also increase Shock resistance by 15 for 10 minutes).
- Root Rot: The infected status effect is caused by being infected by Root Rot. If you become infected, you will have episodes of coughing that will interrupt your actions. To cure Root Rot, you can use an Oilskin Tonic.
- Suppression:Â The Suppression status effect will cause your inability to use your perks and skills in combat. You can cure Suppression by using a Timeworn Unguent (which will also increase Suppression resistance by 25 for 10 minutes).
Aside from using an item that corresponds to a specific status effect to cure it, you can also eliminate any status effects by employing certain methods such as using Checkpoint, succumbing to death, or receiving healing from the Dragon Heart while wearing the Cleansing Stone.
Note: You will encounter several of these status effects at once during boss encounters like the Root Nexus, making it even more important to understand how to eliminate them should your character begin to suffer from them.
Your character’s stats show how resistant you are to different status effects, with a higher number indicating that it will take longer for the status effect to take effect. Usually, status effects do not have any immediate effects until they fully develop, but they will be deadly once they do. I found it is best to equip the curative item for the status effect you will see the most in the location you are currently questing in. This way, you can quickly use it without opening your inventory (since you can’t pause the game).
In addition, some status effects can go away on their own, but others will remain until cured with items you can purchase from Dr. Norah in Ward 13 for 100 Scrap. Ailments like Bleed and Fire can accumulate multiple stacks, making them even more powerful.
