How to get materials for Masterworking in Diablo 4

Players can obtain materials for Masterworking through the newly added Pit. Before you can access the Pit in Diablo 4, you must meet some prerequisites first. Here is everything you need to do to unlock the Pit in the correct order:

  1. Reach World Tier 4.
  2. Complete Tier 46 Nightmare Dungeon.
  3. Use the Portal Activator located in Cerrigar to access the Pit.

Once you unlock the Pit, you will need to collect Runeshards to enter. Check out our guide on how to find Runeshards for more information.

How to use Masterworking in Diablo 4

While the Masterworking system is available immediately at the start of your playthrough in Diablo 4 Season 4, you won’t be able to use it until you gather materials from the Pit. In other words, you need to first unlock the Pit and play through it a few times to reap the benefits of Masterworks.

Once you unlock the Pit and gather the necessary materials, you can access and use Masterworks by selecting the option at any Blacksmith in the game.
