What does every map marker mean in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Here is every map marker I’ve come across in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Almost all the map markers are self-explanatory, but just like when you can’t heal, some map markers like the exclamation points, crystals, and flags have given me trouble while playing:

What are exclamation points on the map in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Easily the most confusing map marker in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the exclamation points. Normally in RPGs, exclamation marks signify quest givers. In Dragon’s Dogma 2, there are no map markers for quest givers. Instead, exclamation points are signs of something your Pawn points out.

One of my biggest nit-picky complaints with Dragon’s Dogma 2 is how temporary map markers like exclamation points don’t go away after you interact with them. I’ve had my Pawns point out that there is a ladder nearby dozens of times even though I’ve already climbed that ladder and know nothing else is there. Don’t worry, you’re not missing anything.

Whenever you see an exclamation point, know that it’s something your Pawn wants you to see and it always appears after your Pawn mentions it in dialogue.

What are crystal icons on the map in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

The crystal-looking icons on the map also confused me at first. Whenever you see a crystal icon on the map, it signifies any resource. When your Pawn mentions it, you can press the “Go” command to allow them to pick it up themselves or you can go over to the crystal icon and grab the resource.

Remember, the icon won’t go away once you get the item and just because it’s a crystal icon doesn’t mean you’ll get crystals — it’s usually fruits or plants. They’re just as permanent as the best Advanced Vocations once you unlock them.

How to reach chest icons on the map in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Often, chests pointed out by your Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are out of reach. If they are in reach, simply climb up to them, make sure the area is safe, and loot it. I like to press the “Go” command right after my Pawns spot something to allow them to go retrieve it themselves. It’s hit or miss whether the Pawns get what they pointed out, but pressing “Go” is the way to go.

When a chest is out of reach, you have two options. You can change your Pawn Vocation to a Fighter with the Springboard skill unlocked help you jump up to where the chest is or you can fly up to where the chest is as a Mage.
