Genshin Impact has a roster of over 70 characters and a robust combat system. One of the most satisfying aspects of Genshin Impact‘s combat is its team-building, and with most teams, you’ll need a strong healer to keep your team alive. However, raw healing numbers are not the only thing a healer can provide for your team. Some healers may provide additional buffs for your team to provide offensive power, while others may also have extra defensive utilities, such as a shield. As a result, you don’t just want to look for a healer with the best numbers. You’ll want to seek out a healer that can best fit your team comp. Follow this guide to learn about the best healers in Genshin Impact, ranked from most niche to best-in-class.
Note: This guide is intended to rank healers, but there truly isn’t a bad character in this game! You’ll be able to use any character in this list with the right team, so keep this in mind while viewing this list of the best healers in Genshin Impact.
The best healers in Genshin Impact
Special Mentions
Before diving into the nitty-gritty of the best healers in Genshin Impact, there are a number of characters in the game who are not technically healers, but do provide a little bit of healing as a part of their kit. These characters include Xingqiu, Gorou, and Zhongli. These heals typically are locked behind constellations or are not enough to quantify them as main healers, but they can help teams get away with having no healers in a team. For instance, Xingqiu provides damage reduction and interruption resistance on top of mild heals, and is an offensive powerhouse to boot. Do research on your support characters to see if you really need a healer on your team at all.
Dori
Dori is a 4-star Electro healer and is one of the weaker characters in the game. Her damage output is low, and her Electro application is not as reliable compared to other Electro support options. Her main weakness is her heavy Energy Recharge requirements and weak Electro application, making her pale in comparison to other support characters like Kuki Shinobu. You can use her in teams where you don’t need heavy Electro application, such as Physical teams where you only need one source of Electro to proc Superconduct.
Noelle
Noelle is a 4-star Geo healer character. Players can obtain Noelle by pulling on the Beginner Wish banner, which guarantees a Noelle. Noelle has a weak shield and is generally not used until you earn her Constellation 6. At Constellation 6, Noelle receives a huge buff that greatly increases her ATK based on her DEF. When Noelle has this constellation, she is a viable main DPS character, with strong and far-reaching Normal Attacks. This is a fun, niche, and viable build, but does require that you pair her with other Geo characters, particularly Gorou. She is self-sustaining, fortunately, as her Normal Attacks in her Elemental Burst provide heals.
Qiqi
Qiqi is a 5-star character and is one of the worst 5-star characters in the game. Qiqi, unfortunately, is only known for her high healing numbers and does not provide much else, not even providing much Energy Regeneration for other Cryo characters or applying Cryo in Freeze teams. Qiqi is recommended in Physical teams where her defensive utility is appreciated, and where constant Cryo application may not be as important in other teams.
Barbara
Barbara is a free-to-play healer that everyone in the game receives for free. She is a starter healer character and does not provide much to the team aside from raw healing numbers. Her Elemental Skill forms a ring around her that heals the active character periodically, but also inflicts your character with the “Wet” status (which means Cryo attacks can Freeze you.) This can be a blessing and a curse, as she can apply Hydro reliably on the enemy, but can also take more damage from incoming elemental reactions.
Barbara does have some niche builds as a main DPS character, thanks to her strong Charged Attacks if built properly. Generally, she is a free-to-play alternative to other characters like Sangonomiya Kokomi for when you need a Hydro applicator for Freeze teams or Bloom teams.
Sayu
Sayu is a 4-star Anemo character who is generally an alternative to Jean as an Anemo healer. Anemo characters can use the Viridescent Venerer set, which reduces the Elemental RES of enemies based on elements that swirl with Anemo. Sayu can reliably trigger Swirl with her Elemental Skill and Burst, which makes her a solid VV holder. You need her Constellation 1 to allow her Elemental Burst to heal and damage enemies at the same time, increasing your Swirl uptime. As a special mention, Sayu is a great exploration character, as her Elemental Skill turns her into a ball that can travel long distances.
Mika
Mika is a 4-star Cryo character who is strong in his niche but is not recommended for other teams outside of it. Mika’s Elemental Burst provides a decent burst heal, and more heals when the active character uses their Normal Attack. However, Mika’s main purpose is as a Physical DMG support, as Mika can provide a number of buffs to help a Physical DPS character deal more damage. Mika is most effective as Constellation 6, where he can provide a 60% Physical DMG boost. He is a strong Physical buffer, but due to how specialized his kit is, he’s not recommended outside of this niche.
Diona
Diona is a 4-star Cryo character generally used in Freeze teams. Her Elemental Burst provides some heals and decent Cryo application, and her Elemental Skill actually provides a good amount of Cryo particles. This allows her to be slotted in as a defensive unit for Freeze teams, as she also provides a shield. At Constellation 6, she can be used in more teams, as her Elemental Burst also provides a large Elemental Mastery buff.
Jean
Jean is a 5-star Anemo character who is a bit more offensive in nature, capable of dealing high damage with her Elemental Burst. She’s also a great battery for certain Anemo characters, such as Xiao. She is an upgraded version of Sayu, and as an Anemo character, can hold the Viridescent Venerer set. This allows you to debuff an enemy after proccing the Swirl reaction, which Jean can reliably proc. At high constellations, Jean possesses numerous different buffs and debuffs, such as teamwide ATK SPD and Movement SPD buffs, as well as the ability to reduce Anemo RES of enemies at Constellation 4.
Yaoyao
Yaoyao is a stellar 4-star Dendro healer. Yaoyao is joined by an adorable companion who gives Guoba a run for his money, Yuegui. Yuegui will target opponents and unleash Dendro attacks, or heal allies if they are below 70% HP. Her above-average Dendro application gives Yaoyao a solid spot in many Dendro teams, currently a powerful element with access to many strong elemental reactions. Yaoyao also has good constellations. Her Constellation 1 provides active characters with a 15% Dendro DMG bonus, increased Energy Recharge on Constellation 2, and a buff to her own Elemental Mastery which can help in reaction-heavy teams.
Kuki Shinobu
Kuki Shinobu is a 4-star character who not only provides great heals, but a strong offensive property with consistent Electro application with her healing. Because of this, Kuki Shinobu synergizes incredibly well with Dendro characters, and she is used often with some of the best characters right now, such as Alhaitham or Nahida. She’s a low-maintenance character who doesn’t require the best weapons or artifacts. For Constellations, aim to get at least Constellation 2 to increase her Elemental Skill uptime.
Baizhu
Baizhu is a 5-star Dendro healer and does a hybrid of healing and shielding. Baizhu’s main strengths come from his comfortable playstyle, keeping your team alive, while also providing some buffs. Baizhu can increase the reaction DMG of Dendro reactions based on his max HP, which makes Baizhu a triple threat of healing, shielding, and buffing. For this reason, if you have many Dendro teams, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on Baizhu.
Sangonomiya Kokomi
Sangonomiya Kokomi is probably the best option in the game in terms of raw heals, with her defensive stability compared to the likes of Zhongli. If anything, she will keep your team alive. But due to her high Hydro application, Kokomi fits naturally in many comps, such as Freeze comps and Bloom comps. She doesn’t deal much damage herself, as she can’t even Crit, but she will keep you alive and enable your teammates.
That was a breakdown of the best healers in Genshin Impact. Again, don’t worry if your favorite healer did not make it to the top of this list. Genshin Impact characters all have a place in this game, and it just takes a bit of creativity to make the perfect team for your treasured characters.
