There’s a new set of boss Medallions to earn in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3, and defeating the new Wrecked bosses will net you some of the strongest perks the game has seen to date.
Things are a bit more complicated now that the island has been hit with sandstorms and vehicular mayhem has become the meta, so you may need to take down an entire convoy to reach some of the new bosses in Fortnite Wrecked. Their Medallions are more than worth the effort, however, and they’re especially helpful in countering vehicles and new Mythics introduced this season.
Best Medallions in Fortnite C5S3
Unlike the previous Chapter 5 seasons, there are only three bosses that drop Medallions in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3.
- The Machinist (Redline Rig) – Regenerates shield over time
- Ringmaster Scarr (Nitrodrome) – Damage buff and infinite ammo
- Megalo Don (Brutal Beachhead) – Infinite Nitro
To make up for the decreased Medallion count, the perks for each Medallion are much stronger this season. The overall best Medallion in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is Ringmaster Scarr‘s Medallion, which provides you with a slight damage buff but more importantly infinite ammo for all your weapons. Whether you’re playing Zero Build or classic Battle Royale, infinite ammunition is insanely helpful.
The other two Medallions are tied in usefulness, and their utility really depends on your preferred playstyle and loadout. The Machinist’s Medallion regenerates your shield over time, which is nothing new. If you remember when Medallions were introduced in Chapter 5 Season 1, that was all they did. If you felt comfortable with the increased survivability offered back then, you’ll feel right at home with The Machinist’s Medallion in your inventory.
The third and final Medallion belongs to Megalo Don. It provides you with infinite Nitro, a new resource introduced in Fortnite Wrecked. Normally obtained via Nitro Splash or Nitro Barrels, Nitro is a new mechanic that provides various buffs to players and vehicles.
A Nitro-fied car drives faster, uses less fuel, receives buffs to attached attack mods, and unlocks an explosive ramming ability. A Nitro-fied player moves faster, uses less stamina, reloads faster, takes no fall damage, and unlocks an explosive bashing ability.
Ultimately, Ringmaster Scarr’s Medallion comes out on top of the trio overall because infinite ammo is just too good. Megalo Don’s Nitro buffs are incredibly helpful too, but some players may prefer the shield regeneration offered by The Machinist. No matter which Medallion you choose, remember that the same rule still applies: You’ll be visible on the map for the entire lobby to see. Equip yourself with new Mythics and good gear to defend yourself from incoming attacks.
