Very underrated spells.

There are many different types of spells in Baldur’s Gate 3. In the Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition rules, spells can have multiple levels, and there are also cantrips. But what about Ritual spells? You’ll notice that certain spells have the Ritual tag on them, but you should understand what they all do and why they’re so important. Let’s go over all Baldur’s Gate 3 Ritual spells and why they differ from normal spells.

Baldur’s Gate 3: All Ritual spells explained

First and foremost, Ritual spells in Baldur’s Gate 3 are spells that don’t expend a spell slot to cast, although they do take longer to cast. This means that you can’t just cast them in combat, you need to cast them out of combat. Although that may bore you, I promise nearly all of the Ritual spells are highly useful in many situations. Here are all the Baldur’s Gate 3 Ritual spells.

Spell Name Spell type Effect
Detect Thoughts Level 2 Divination (Concentration) Read the thoughts of certain creatures as you talk with them. Lasts until your next Long Rest.
Disguise Self Level 1 Illusion Magically changes your appearance. Choose from any race and gender.
Enhanced Leap Level 1 Transmutation Triples a creature’s jumping distance.
Feather Fall Level 1 Transmutation You and your nearby allies cannot take fall damage. Lasts for 10 turns.
Find Familiar Level 1 Conjuration Summons a familiar, fey spirit, which takes the form of an animal of your choosing.
Longstrider Level 1 Transmutation Increases a creature’s movement speed by 3m. Lasts until your next Long Rest.
Silence Level 2 Illusion (Concentration) Summons a sound-proof sphere. Anyone inside the sphere is Silenced (unable to cast spells) and Immune the Thunder damage. Lasts for 100 turns.
Speak with Animals Level 1 Divination Gain ability to understand and speak with animals and beasts. Lasts until your next Long Rest.
Speak with Dead Level 3 Necromancy Allows a corpse with a mouth who is not an undead to answer five questions.
