There is a grand total of 50 Art Scrolls scattered across the chapters of The Plucky Squire. You’ve probably stumbled across a few by accident, but it’s easy to miss a few on your first playthrough. With this in mind, here’s a list of all the Art Scroll locations in The Plucky Squire.

Every Lost Art Scroll location in The Plucky Squire
For ease of use, I’ve listed every location in Chapter order. Keep in mind that you can revisit chapters at any time through the Chapter selector.
Your progress in the Chapter selector doesn’t affect your main story progression, so feel free to explore at your leisure. Naturally, this guide is heavy on spoilers, as I’ve used points in the story as a reference.
We’re missing a handful of scrolls at the time of writing, but we will update this guide when we find them.
Chapter One
Onward to Tome Tower
The first scroll in the game is behind a bush on the first page towards Tome Tower. You can find this just after the Honey Badger battle.
Martina’s Shop by the open gate
Martina will show up in set locations across your journey and usually has an Art Scroll for sale. You can buy your first scroll in Martina’s Shop after you open the first gate. The scroll costs 20 Lightbulbs.
Chapter Two
Next to the pond behind the trees
The first scroll of the chapter is by the pond on the page where you meet your first Bull enemy. Defeat the Bull, then walk behind the trees at the top of the page to get it.
Martinas Shop after the cat puzzle
You can buy another Scroll from Martina after you’ve fed the cat and opened the door. The Scroll costs 20 Lightbulbs and should be at the bottom of the shop inventory.
In a tree on the Strange Electricity page
A Scroll is hidden in the tree on the page that reads, “There was a Strange Electricity in the air.” Smack the tree in the bottom left corner of the page to get it.
Martinas shop as you exit the cave
You can buy another Scroll from Martina immediately after the 2D cave section.
Inside the Book Maze
There’s a Scroll up for grabs at the bottom left corner of the book maze. You can walk here without interacting with any puzzle elements.
Chapter Three
Chapter three is exceptionally short but still has a couple of collectibles if you know where to look.
Behind a tree by Moonbeard’s House
There’s an easy Art Scroll to grab during Moonbeard’s tutorial on manipulating pages. When you collect Moonbeard’s soda from his house, there’s a Scroll behind the tree in the top-right corner of the page.
There’s also a Glitchbird up for grabs in the house to the left.
Chapter 4
Martina’s shop in the swamp
You can buy a Scroll from Martina’s shop after you’ve completed the huge bug puzzle.
In a tree behind the sealed door
This Scroll is easy to miss as there’s no reason to come up here unless you’re looking for collectibles. The sealed door opens when you place the block on the switch in the adjacent area.
Smack the tree with your sword and collect your Scroll.
Behind the yellow block
There’s a scroll hidden outside the book in Chapter 4 during your quest to obtain a Bow. Move the cube in the picture above, and you’ll find the scroll behind it. It’s also worth pointing out that from this area onwards, you can find many more scrolls outside of the pages.
Behind the Drawbridge
During the same quest, there’s a hidden Art Scroll inside the castle in the real world. Once you lower the drawbridge, the Scroll is tucked away in a corner of the courtyard.
Martina’s Shop by Snail Town
Don’t forget to visit Martina’s Shop at the entrance to the town of Snail. You can grab this one for 20 Lightbulbs just after the Archery mini-game.
Hidden in a Tree
The next Scroll is up a tree just after the Big Bug kidnaps your friends. The Scroll won’t appear until you smack the tree with your sword.
Chapter 5
Opposite the Juice Bar
There’s an easy Scroll up for grabs in Artia. Check out the green building just south of the Juice Bar to find it.
Martina’s shop in the town
You can buy an Art Scroll from Martina at the Town Square in Artia. It’s 20 Lightbulbs as usual.
Behind the tape outside the book
During the quest outside the book, head to the top right of the map. Jump through the roll of tape in the image above and defeat the bugs to reach it.
The tape is at ground level before you climb toward the doll house.
Top right corner of the map outside the book
There is one more Scroll hidden outside the book to the top left. You can jump across to it from the ramp that takes you toward the doll house. Walk over the Rubiks Cube, and jump across the stationary to get it.
Reward for story progress
You get a freebie Art Scroll when you rescue all the Rubboinks and Tiny. As the task is mandatory, it’s impossible to miss.
Inside the castle courtyard
The Castle lobby is a busy place. You can find an Art Scroll behind the large upside-down pin to the right. There is also an easy Glitchbird to grab in this area through an obscured doorway to the left.
Chapter 6
Chapter 6 is far longer than any other thus far, so take your time to explore each page.
Hidden in a tree by the launch pad
The first Scroll is hidden in a tree to the top left of the area, with launch pads to get around. The Scroll is easy to find as you must head this way as part of natural story progression.
Martina’s shop by the gate
You know the drill by now. You can purchase an Art Scroll from Martina after you meet Thrash’s uncle. The Scroll costs 20 Lightbulbs and will be at the bottom of the shop inventory. You may have to scroll down to see it in the list.
Hidden in the dark before the cave entrance
This Scroll is one of the hardest to find in the entire game, as it’s hidden on a black page. Wander down to where I’m standing in the image above to grab it.
Watch out for Ghosts, as there are at least three in the area.
High up to the northeast
Three Art Scrolls are up for grabs during the jetpack section off the page. The first is in the top left corner of the map. You can jump here when you reach Minibeard before a 2D section on the wall.
On top of the night light
The Scroll is well-hidden as it’s outside the camera’s range on top of the night light by the window in the middle of the room. You can jump here from the mug on the left or wait until you have both rocket pieces, as you need to visit the location anyway.
Use the jetpack to climb to the top of the light and grab your scroll.
Inside the Jelly Monster’s cup
The last Scroll out here is inside the mug with the jelly creature on it. Jump into the mug with the jetpack to grab it.
Inside Gozzy’s Cave
There’s a Scroll up for grabs in the cave where you can pick up the “Fractured” keyword. After you’ve knocked down the tower, follow the footsteps in the sand to find a scroll hidden behind a giant pillar.
Martina’s shop by the Bunny Concert
Martina sells another Scroll when you meet her after the Bunny Concert.
Chapter 7
Martina’s shop on the beach
You can buy the first Scroll in Chapter 7 from Martina’s shop after you’ve rescued Stanley the Starfish.
Off the page on the side of a cup
The next Scroll is off the page on the cup to the left, where you meet Uta and retrieve the orb of Amber. Walk to the right, and the cup will turn, revealing the Scroll.
On the side of Anni, the dinosaur
You will walk past this Scroll long before you can actually reach it. There’s one on the side of the orange dinosaur, Anni. This one is easy to get, as you need to defeat the mice on Anni to complete the quest.
On the tabletop by the entrance to a 2D section
There’s a well-hidden Art Scroll here. You’re meant to head into a portal on the wall to enter the forest full of dinosaurs. Walk past it instead, and you’ll find your prize on the table.
Inside a box which requires the Bomb Stamp
On the page that says “Ahead Lay Dangerous Machines,” there’s a box you can detonate to the far right. There’s a scroll inside the box, but you can only detonate it from outside the book. Once the box is destroyed, enter the book to collect it.
Martina’s shop outside the cave
You can buy another Scroll from Martina on the island to the right after you complete the bomb cave puzzle.
Chapter 8
Chapter 8 is a tiny filler section, so there are only two Art Scrolls up for grabs.
Behind a fire
There’s a scroll on the very first screen outside the town. Walk to the left, and you will find one hidden behind a fire.
In a building in the ruins of Artia
You can find a Scroll in the town inside the pink building to the far right.
Chapter 9
Chapter 9 is easily the longest section in the game, with a few scrolls that are easy to miss.
Hidden in the dark
At the page that reads “Oh Dear. A complete and utter DEAD END,” walk right at the crossroad to reveal an Art Scroll hidden in the darkness.
Off the page when you obtain the Tilt Gloves
The next Scroll is deep into the level. Play as usual until you find the Tilt Gloves in the real world. The Scroll is hidden behind some paint pots to the right.
Under the archway
Once you’ve restored your powers, head through the 2D sections until you reach a gauntlet of bugs. There’s a scroll right at the top under the archway.
Inside the Diamond Bust of Humgrump
There’s a tricky Scroll hidden in the metal box puzzle room. You can find a Diamond Bust of Humgrump in the room to the right.
Grab the word “Broken” from the pipe and bring it over to the Bust. Swap “Diamond” with “Broken,” and the Bust will crack.
Use the Portal to travel outside the book and detonate Humgrump’s Bust with the Bomb Stamp to reveal the Scroll.
Martina’s shop after you free Thrash
You can buy an Art Scroll from Martina after you’ve rescued Thrash from Prison.
In the Metamagic Pipe room
There’s a destructible metal box in the room with the Metamagic pipes. Exit the book via the portal before moving the pipe. If you try to adjust the pipe first, it will block access to the box and you’ll have to use some portal shenanigans to get everything back into position.
Detonate the box from outside the book, then return to grab the scroll.
Marina’s shop after the third Pip minigame
Marina has a shop just after the third section where you can as play Pip the Mouse.
In a tree outside Palace Humgrump
There’s a Scroll hidden in a tree outside Palace Humgrump. Give the tree second from the right a whack with your sword to collect it.
Chapter 10 is a story and boss-oriented section and does not contain any Scrolls that I could find. As mentioned at the start of the guide, we have missed a few Scrolls, but we will update once we have everything.
If you are in the mood for collectibles, make sure you track down the ten Lost Glitchbirds scattered across the game. There aren’t many, but the hiding places are far more devious than the Art Scrolls and very easy to miss on most stages.
