Dell has announced that Alienware PCs will ship with copies of Steam and Portal.Starting today, all PCs – both desktop and laptop – sold under Dell’s Alienware gaming brand will come pre-loaded with Valve’s Steam digital distribution service, and a complimentary copy of the utterly brilliant Portal.”With its automatic game updates, easy friend finding and the ability to play your Steam purchased games on any PC, Valve has helped simplify PC Gaming [sic] to make it more enjoyable,” reckons Frank Azor, senior manager of product planning for Dell’s gaming group. This is a pretty big move for Valve. As big as Steam is, pre-loading it onto Alienware PCs will expand the market far, far more – Alienware is a huge brand, after all.Portal, on the other hand, was a bonus puzzle game thrown into the Orange Box, which also contained Half-Life 2, Episode One, Episode Two, and Team Fortress 2. Surprisingly, it blew everyone away and was acclaimed as one of the greatest games ever made. Check it out on Steam over here.
