Alien: Isolation trailer proves that guns are rubbish

Alien Isolation - 07

Okay, look: if that doesn’t work, I’m not sure a revolver is going to cut it. Perhaps literally.

I’ve been a little hard on these Alien: Isolation vignettes, but this one made me laugh. I mean, yes, okay, a video showing about 20 seconds of gameplay that inevitably ends in the gruesome death of the protagonist isn’t really an idea I can get behind, but this one…

Well, this one has Amanda Ripley trying to fend off some unhappy androids. She accomplishes this primarily by standing still and shooting at them with a gun, which does little but make them stand still for a moment. Then she dies. I think it was meant to instil a general sense of hopelessness and fear in me, but mostly it made me giggle like a small child with unfettered access to a pound of sugar.

You can see the trailer for yourself, below. Alien: Isolation is due out next week.
